Chapter 30

"Rina.."

"Ri~na~!"

Little Chaeyoung opened her eyes and saw Mina's sparkling ones. She's 4-years old but she can recognize such an artpiece, and it's Mina we're talking about. At such a young age, her face is enchanting.

Chaeyoung yawned, "what are you doing here, Mina-ne?" Since Mina and her always played at the sandbox for a year, she learned a few japanese from Mina, she picks it up whenever Mina would accidentally speak in her native language.

Mina grinned, "your eomma let me inside to play with you!"

Chaeyoung frowned, "what?" She asked, it was too impossible for her ears to hear such things.

"I heard you were sick and you weren't allowed to go outside, so I went here to play inside your room!" Mina grinned cheekily and sat on Chaeyoung's bed, beside her. Mina leaned her back on the wall as Chaeyoung did the same, sitting up with Mina, they stared at the window in front of Chaeyoung's bed.

"It must be hard." Mina suddenly commented.

"What is?" Chaeyoung hummed.

"You're not allowed to go outside because of your asthma and now you're sick, doubling the struggle for you."

Chaeyoung shook her head, "ani, I'm used to it." Chaeyoung answered.

Ever since they were playing at the sandbox, sometimes Mina would teach her a lot of things about Korean and how to speak. Ironic, it is, but Mina just wanted Rina—Chaeyoung to learn how to speak and not struggle with her broken Korean. Plus, they always talk about mature things which made Chaeyoung see a matured view of the world. All of this because of Mina and Chaeyoung loves how Mina affects her life.

"Rina, when we grow up, promise me to stay by my side." Mina suddenly told her and faced her.

Chaeyoung chuckled, "you do know that my name is Chaeyoung not Rina, right?"

"Katrina is your english name and Rina is your nickname, so it's technically still your name." Mina frowned, "now answer me, you'll stay by my side right?"

Chaeyoung nodded.

"Even if you get close with my twins?" Mina asked again.

Chaeyoung nodded.

"What if you suddenly forget me and remember my twins?"

Chaeyoung chuckled, "if I remember them, then there's no way I'll forget about you."

Mina frowned, "but.. you're migrating to America next week."

Chaeyoung hummed, she placed her hands on either side of Mina's face, "even if I migrate to wherever, I won't forget my precious friend!"

This brought a small smile to Mina, "really?"

Chaeyoung nodded, "eung~! I promise. Oh yeah!" She snapped her fingers as if she remembered something. She stood up from her bed and grabbed a small box from the table beside her bed, she showed it to Mina.

"I know how much you love penguins." Chaeyoung snorted and opened the small box, revealing two necklaces with different pendants. She lifted up the necklace with a penguin pendant, "this is for you," she said and helped Mina to attach it to her neck. "And this is for me." Chaeyoung said and wore the necklace.

"But how will you remember me if yours is a tiger pendant?" Mina frowned, "I'm the penguin, right?"

Chaeyoung hummed, "check the back of the pendant~!" She said and Mina instantly checked, she saw Chaeyoung's initials, SKCY.
