"OKAY FIRST STOP IS obviously the grove because you can't come to la and not see the grove," scout stated, marching in front of everyone as they walked to their uber from the lobby. "but we're not going to waste too much time there because, contrary to popular belief, girl aren't obsessed with shopping," mckinley added, hurrying to catch up with her best friend. scout claimed the window seat and mckinley slid in beside her. "no fair!" she pouted, "i always get the bump." blake laughed as he clambered into the back seat of the car with george. "that's because you're short kiki," reece said as he sat in the last available seat, which happened to be right next to mckinley.
the group reached the grove and shopped around for a while. while they were at brandy melville, scout found a necklace she loved, but she didn't want to spend the money on it. the girls then moved on to the next store but blake held his friends back. "i wanna buy that necklace for scout," he told them, "i need you guys to stall for me." the boys nodded and hurried to keep mckinley and scout busy while blake purchased the necklace.
when he walked out of the store a few minutes later, he saw scout and mckinley standing by the door. "where did reece and george go?" he asked the girls, completely bewildered. "they mumbled something about you, scout, and surprise, before running off to the bathroom. we figured you would still be here so we came back," mckinley told him. blake rolled his eyes, "those bloody wankers!" he turned and began walking in the direction of the bathrooms, "i'll go get them." mckinley laughed at blake's frustration. "wait!" scout called, "what surprise were they talking about?" without turning around, blake waved the question away and continued walking.
five long minutes later, blake returned with the boys in tow. mckinley tried to suppress her laughter at their disappointed expressions but miserably failed. "great! now that you're back, what's my surprise?" scout asked impatiently. blake's eyes twinkled with laughter and admiration for the girl standing in front of him. he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small jewelry box. he handed it to scout and she opened it, slowly pulling out a fragile, gold chain. "blake, no, i can't accept this. it's too much," scout said shaking her head. she tried to give it back to him but he placed both his palms over her hand so she couldn't give it back to him. "you don't really have a choice in the matter my love."
scout blushed deeply at the pet name he had given her. the two stood frozen in time for a moment, his hands over hers, staring into each other's eyes, both experiencing utter bliss. scout was the first one to be broken from the trance, "no, seriously blake. i cannot take this. it's wonderful and i love it, but it's too much!" blake vehemently shook his head, "if you love it then why don't you take it?" scout opened her mouth to disagree once more before she was cut off by a sharp jab in her ribs. "just take the dang necklace! he bought it for you cookie!" mckinley whispered into scout's ear.
finally, scout gave in, "alright fine." she handed the necklace to blake, turned around and lifted up her hair so he could clasp it around her neck. smiling, the boy fastened the necklace and spun the girl around to see her with it on. "you look beautiful," he told her. a blush fluttered across her rosy face and she gave blake a hug. "thank you so much blake, i really do love it,"she mumbled into his chest.
"awww," mckinley and george cooed in unison. reece, on the other hand, began speaking, "alright alright break it up lovebirds. i wanna go to the pier," mckinley cut a glare towards reece while the couple quickly broke apart. blake turned towards his friend and punched his arm, "hey! what was that for?" everyone stared at reece, dumbfounded. mckinley broke the silence, "are you seriously suggesting you don't know?" the blond pouted, "fine go back to making out or whatever you're doing. i'll wait patiently," he waved his hands towards the couple.
"permission to smack him?" scout asked. "oh, permission 100% granted," blake responded. the two looked at each other and began cracking up. soon, everyone was laughing and gasping for breath. they were drawing the attention of several passerby but not one of them cared. finally, reece said, still panting hard, "can we still go to the pier though?"
