MCKINLEY LAY IN BED, recounting the wonderful events that had taken place throughout the day. reece forcing her to sit at the front of the roller coaster with him, then the two screaming and laughing together the whole time. her and george, competing to see who could win the most tickets at the arcade. much to his dismay, she won. sharing a cotton candy with scout. shaking their ferris wheel box once they got to the top to scare scout, only to get yelled at by blake a few seconds later. blake winning scout a massive teddy bear that she then made him lug around the pier for the rest of the day. their dinner at a cute little diner, where mckinley and reece kept putting the whipped cream from their milkshakes on each other's noses.
the girl fondly remembered meeting fans there, people who had wanted to take pictures with her and talk to her. having never experienced that without daniel, she was overwhelmed at first. but, luckily, she had reece with her. he pulled her away from the group, put his hands on her shoulders and calmed her down. he gave her a hug and then let her talk to everyone.
mckinley's favorite part of the night was being able to talk to reece in person. their long conversations over text were fun and all but having them be face to face made them that much better. having reece around was so much better than she could have imagined. his laugh was perfect and his smile was radiant. having to endure him leaving would be incredibly difficult and she was already not looking forward to it.
shaking her mind away from the negative thoughts, mckinley remembered she had made plans with daniel and the boys the next day. she smiled, she felt as if she hadn't seen daniel in a long time, nor had she hung out with the whole band in ages. the girl squeezed her eyes shut and tried to fall asleep, her body exhausted from the trying day and already shaking with anticipation for the next.
