"MORNIN'" DANIEL SAID when he felt mckinley wake up next to him. he leaned down and kissed her forehead. mckinley smiled and leaned into his touch. "good morning d," she whispered into his chest. the girl wrapped her arms around his chest and he did the same to her. they lay there holding each other as if their lives depended on it. when the two finally managed to pull themselves out of bed, daniel made his girlfriend breakfast. "okay i'm gonna head out love. i'll call you later okay?" kin said as she kissed daniel's cheek. "alright, bye kinny."

as soon as she got home, mckinley locked herself in her bedroom and buried herself underneath her covers. she wouldn't allow herself to move until she figured out what she was going to say to daniel. how, exactly, was she supposed to break it to her boyfriend of a year that she liked someone else?

at a loss for words, kinny called scout and told her to come over as fast as she could. an hour later, a knock sounded at the door. kin hurried over to open it, the door swung open revealing scout and blake. scout smiled sheepishly, "you sounded like you needed help so i brought backup." kin rolled her eyes, "yeah, that's why you brought him. for me." blake and scout laughed and walked inside.

"so what's up kin?" blake asked, sitting down on the couch. kin wrung her hands together as she tried to calm her thoughts. "here's the thing," she began, "neither of you can breathe a word of this to another soul. okay?" refusing to continue until both of them had nodded, mckinley waited. once they both nodded she took a deep breath and began to explain why she had brought them there.

"okay, so, i'm beginning to think that i like reece. like yesterday, me and the boys went to the fair and the whole time, all i could think about was reece. and i know i'm already dating daniel so that means i have to break up with him. i love him too much to keep him in a relationship where i'm not 100% in. but the thing is i have no idea how to tell him. he's always so sweet and charming and supportive and i don't want to destroy him. so please please, tell me what to do."

at this point, mckinley had begun crying. her shoulders were trembling as the tears fell down her face. scout stood up and brought mckinley to the couch. she made her lay down and put kin's head in her lap. scout slowly began running her fingers through mckinley's hair. "shhh, it's okay kin. you're alright. just take a deep breath. it's okay honey, you're okay. everything will be okay." slowly, kin's sobs began to peter out as she calmed down. she sat up and scout grabbed her shoulders, "hey, you and me, we're gonna figure this out okay?" scout wouldn't let go until mckinley nodded. "alright then, go lie down, we'll worry about this later. me and blake will be right here, we're not going anywhere."
