"KIKI, YOU HAVE FLOUR on your nose," reece told her. reaching up, mckinley lightly swiped at her nose, "did i get it?" laughing slightly, reece moved closer to the girl, "no, here. let me," he reached up and gently brushed the flour off the girl's nose. their eyes met and time seemed to freeze. "thanks," she whispered. "yeah, no problem." someone cleared their throat from behind the two and they jumped apart. "as much fun as it is to watch you two stare into each other's eyes, we've got cookies to make," scout told them. kinley's face turned a deep red as everyone continued baking.

the girls set the cookies out to cool while the boys began building the fort. kinley and scout also went to her room to grab extra pillows, fairy lights, and other decorations for their fort. when the two returned to the living room, they found the boys sitting on the couch, having made no progress on the fort. "what do you guys think you're doing?" scout asked, arms crossed. george opened his mouth to offer a lame excuse when mckinley cut him off, "certainly not building a fort, that's for sure." "get your lazy asses up and let's build," scout told them. reece and kinley laid out a spare mattress and a fluffy comforter on the ground. meanwhile, blake and george were hanging blankets from the couch to the ceiling, making a teepee-like creation. they made sure to leave a wide opening facing the tv so the group could watch movies from inside the fort. once they were finished, scout went inside and decorated the fort with throw pillows, fuzzy blankets, and fairy lights on the sides.

with lemonade mouth, kinley's favorite movie, playing in the background, the group sat in a circle and began playing a game of monopoly. as they played, they ate cookies and drank lemonade. when her favorite song of the movie came on, mckinley stood up, pulling reece up with her. "trying hard to fight these tears, i'm crazy worried. messing with my head this fear, i'm so sorry," she sang loudly. reece watched the dancing, smiling girl, dumbstruck at her beauty. when she noticed him staring, kinley yelled at him, "dance!" he grinned and twirled her around. when the song reached the chorus, kin began to do the band's signature dance, motioning for the others to do the same. once the song ended and the movie continued, mckinley collapsed on the floor in a fit of laughter.

later, she decided it was finally time to give the boys their goodbye presents. "i have something to give you three," mckinley told them. they gathered around her, eyes shining excitedly. "okay so you know how me and scout always wear these bracelets?" the girl gestured to the friendship bracelet on her wrist that read "mckinley." scout pointed to a matching one on her wrist, though hers read her own name. the boys nodded with curious looks in their faces. "well," kinley began, "the two of us decided to make each of you one of your own." she pulled out three bracelets, similar to those of hers and scout's and gave one to each boy. "so?" she questioned, "do you like them?" taking her hands, reece's eyes shined with sincerity, "i love it kiki." smiling from ear to ear, mckinley took the bracelet from his hand and carefully wrapped it around his wrist and secured the clasp.

hours after, mckinley and reece were the only ones left awake. george had fallen asleep, sprawled across the sofa. blake and scout were sleeping in the fort, his arm wrapped around her shoulders and hers thrown across his stomach. kinley and reece were sat in her bed, having been talking for hours. mid-sentence, reece noticed the girl's breaths softening and evening out. turning to look at her, he noticed she had fallen asleep in the middle of their conversation. he smiled at her sleeping figure, "good night kiki, darling. sleep well."  reece laid the comforter over her body and gently tucked the girl in. he found a spare blanket leftover from the fort and pulled a pillow off kinley's bed. he made himself a makeshift bed and fell asleep on the girl's bedroom floor.
