13. Baby

Serenity

Napatayo ako kaagad matapos lumingon at nakita si Five na naglalakad papalapit sa'kin. Walang ano-ano ay niyakap niya ako kaagad. I couldn't move. It feels home being in his arms. I feel safe. I feel... not  alone.

"You are always so stubborn." Itinulak ko siya pagkatapos niyang sabihin iyon. Sinamaan ko rin siya ng tingin. "Why did you leave huh?" Galit niyang tanong, nakabaon ang kuko niya braso kong hinawakan niya ng mahigpit.

"Why should I stay?" Tanong ko, nakataas ang kilay. Ha! He is taken aback. Maging ako, hindi ko inisip na lalabas 'yon sa bibig ko.

"Why not?" He snaps back with his annoying grin. Tsk! He's a cheater! He can't use his charm on me! "Come here. Don't give me that face. Let's go home." Why is he sounding so sweet now? And why am I easily falling for it? "Serene." Tawag niya nang hindi ako kumibo.

"I'm not going with you." Pagmamatigas ko.

Great. Whoa, I just said that. How did I say that? Yong puso ko gustong-gusto na kayang sumama sa kanya. Buti gumagana pa pala ang utak ko. Just looking at me, Five doesn't say a word so I take the chance and turn my back on him. But how could I anticipate what he'll do next? He is unpredictable. Always unpredictable. Dahil hindi ko rin inaasahan, hindi ako nakapalag nang bigla niya nalang akong buhatin.

"Palmer! Ibaba mo 'ko!" Sigaw ko nang magsink in sa utak ko ang ginawa niya. Pababa na kami ngayon ng rooftop. "Ibaba mo 'ko ano ba?"

He follows my request only when we're inside the elevator. The heck, as soon as he puts me down, he doesn't let me say a single thing. He pins me to the elevator wall and kisses me like it's the end of the world. Just like that, I know that I am being me again—being stupid. Realizing that I am losing every damn time when it comes to him, I surrender to my own protests and just kiss him back.

"You are not leaving me again." He announces after parting his lips with mine. I couldn't utter anything because I am still catching my breath. It was a long passionate kiss and it literally took my breath away. Not long after a few seconds, the elevator pings open. Five then holds my hand as he leads me to his car.

What does this all mean? What does he mean by not leaving him again? Why did he kiss me?

"Mo?"

Five already revived the engine of the car but still he takes his time to give his attention to me when I call him. There it is again... Ang titig niyag palaging nagpapalumo sa'kin. Dala ng mata niyang tila nang-aakit, yumakap ako sa kanya. Alam kong nabigla siya sa ginawa ko.

"I only haven't seen you for less than twenty-four hours and I feel like I'm going to die." Pag-amin ko. I always speak what I feel. And I don't care, really, if he doesn't feel the same way or if he doesn't feel anything at all. I just feel better every time I speak my mind and my heart.

"Silly." He pokes my forehead and yet he smiles his oh-so-charming smile. Oh, my poor heart. Later on, he leans forward and cups my chin with his thumb. "Don't make me worry again." He says before driving the car away from the Orchestra Heights.

How could I be so weak around him? Pagdating sa kanya, nawawala ang maangas na si Serenity, naglalaho ang babaeng kilala ng karamihan na walang takot. Pagdating sa kanya, ibang-iba ako. But I don't feel a stranger to my own self at all. Rather, I feel that I am living the way I want to. It feels right. Siguro nga, ang hina-hina ko. Ang duwag ko. Kaya nga siguro ako madaling masaktan. Kaya siguro hindi ako nagtatanim ng galit. Yes, maybe, all that made me weak but that's only because my heart has so much love to give.

"Stop staring." He mouths while driving. Oh. He must have looked at me through his periphery. The whole time that he drives, I just really glue my eyes to him. Staring at his face is already my favorite hobby.
