24. Meeting

Five

"Excuse me? Who are you?"

My brows automatically furrows hearing her ask me that question. Serenity looks straight to me in the eyes. She looks so different now. But she's still her.

"Haha. Don't be funny, attorney. Of course, I am joking." She laughs again. Her laugh is still alluring but I hate it. "This isn't a movie. I don't have an amnesia and even if I do, you are unforgettable, Palmer so I would definitely not forget you."

How could she still joke around like that? Tsk. Para bang wala lang nangyari noon. Did she even realize what she did three years ago?

"What brings you here?" She asks, this time, she looks serious.

"How is he?" Is all I muster. I try my best not to look at her it is something very hard to do at the moment. Her eyes are now more defined since she's wearing makeup. Her long lashes are now curled. Most of all, her hair long straight hair now springs out in curly hair locks that give her a very charming face. She doesn't look anything close to a kid. She looks matured and more beautiful.

"He's okay." Serenity sits down, staring at Sandoval. She also takes his hand. I flinch involuntarily seeing that but I quickly shrug it off. "The doctor says he has broken legs and might take time for him to walk again."

Is the car accident that bad? I almost forgot. He drove drunk.

"I didn't know, are you and Seb now some sort of bestfriends?" She laughs sarcastically. Even her manner of speech has changed. "The last time I remembered, my bestfriend hates you. Tapos ngayon, malalaman ko nalang na nandito ka at concern sa kanya." Tiningnan niya ako ng maigi saka ngumisi. "Nabagok ka ba?" Oh, there's the woman I knew three years ago. She's not totally changed afterall.

Because I did not answer her silly statement, Serenity goes on, staring at me like how she used to do before. "Ah, I see. Si Seb ang nabagok."

"I heard that." 

"Oh gosh! Baste!" She exclaims joyfully as she wraps her arms around the guy for a hug. "Baste! Alalang-alala ako sa'yong mokong ka! Ba't ka nagda-drive ng lasing ha? Gusto mo na ba talagang mamatay? Ano? Sumagot ka! Sira-ulo ka! Ano? Gusto mo na bang mamatay? Ako ang papatay sa'yo!"

"I'm okay." Sandoval tells her, wearing an amused smile. "Hey crybaby, stop it." It's only by then that I realize she's crying while she keeps hitting the guy on the chest. Sa halip na makinig sa kaibigan ay lalo pang humagulhol si Serenity, nakayakap sa kaibigan niya. Without intentionally thinking about it, memories from the past automatically replay in my head. And the annoying part about it is having this odd feeling like everything in the past is just an event from yesterday. They're still so vivid.

"I hope I just heard the doctor wrong, Seb." Serenity sad voice echoes inside the room.

"What? About me not being able to walk for years?" Itinaas ni Sandoval ang kamay para punasan ang pisngi ni Serenity. Nagdidilim ng paunti-unti ang paningin ko. Why am I feeling this? Damn it, Five. Stop. "When did you arrive, Siri? I missed you so bad."

"Sorry. We'll talk about everything soon, Seb. Magpagaling ka kaagad okay?" 

"Will you be staying here now for good?"

Lumingon si Serenity sa'kin habang sinundan naman ng tingin ni Sandoval ang direksiyon ko. "Oh, attorney Asshole. Long time no see."

"Sorry, he talks like that." Nakangising sabat ni Serenity. "I can't blame him."

"Can I have a minute with him?" I manage to ask about a few seconds of uncomfortable silence. Tumingin si Serenity sa kaibigan saka muli akong binalingan na may nang-iintimidang ngiti sa labi.
