Five

Angry of what I heard, I tread fast towards her. Just in time, she stands up. Not anticipating to see me, surprise is shown evidently in Serenity's reddened eyes caused by her crying.

"Are you not thinking? Serenity, going to this place alone is dangerous!" How could she not think about that and those endless horrendous possibilities? What if something happened to her? Isn't she thinking that I'll be worried sick?

"Five--"

"It's late at night and you came here without even telling me!" I continue to admonish her. "Why do you always make me angry at you?"

"I'm sorry." She mumbles in her quiet voice. Gazing at her, seeing the sadness that resides in her eyes, I get lost of words. There is only one thing I am sure of doing. Abruptly, I pull her close to my chest and hug her.

I'll be damned for the rest of my life if something happened to her. Eventually, while I have her in my arms, I breathe relief.

"If it's about the things you did not tell me, you don't have to leave, Serene."

She pulls away and walks backwards. I give her my stern look but it doesn't faze her. She just smiles, a sad one.

"You don't have to leave." I iterate.

"I just need to go home." She replies in almost a whisper.

"Stop lying. Wala ka ng uuwian. Alam mo 'yan." Naiinis na sagot ko. Why is she always pissing me off?

"Gusto kong mag-isa, okay!?" She blares while wiping the tears that escape her guard.

"Don't be funny." I say sarcastically and begin dragging her.

"Five, ano ba? Ayokong sumama sa'yo. Wag ka ngang makulit!" Sigaw niya habang nagpupumiglas na makawala sa pagkakahawak ko. I am already very angry at her. I don't want to hear her annoying voice. So, I shut her up. After snaking my arm around her waist, I pull her to me and kiss her.

"You're coming home with me." I declare as soon as our lips parted. She stays silent and follows me without protest until we reach the car.

"Serenity." I call out before starting up the engine. She looks at me with her innocent eyes.

"Please don't say sorry." She begs. I don't know what she meant by that. Oh, maybe, the kiss.

"I won't." I smirk. That makes her smile. Okay. How could I forget that she can shift her emotions in just a matter of seconds? "Don't make me angry at you again, Serene."

"Are you going to kiss me if I make you angry?" She asks. I can hear the mischief in her voice and I confirm it when I see her grin. I revive the engine of the car and begins driving away from the beautiful place.

"I am serious. Don't do stupid things again."

"You're not answering the question, attorney." She responds as if she is in a court room. "You can only answer yes or no, Mr. Palmer." Her grin now grows wider. I just shake my head at her playfulness and innocence.

"Mo, pansinin mo 'ko." She sweetly muffles after a few minutes. I just give her a glance. She's pouting.

"Have you eaten?"

"No." Nakangiting sagot niya. "Can we have pizza tonight?"

"Okay."

"Look at me, mo."

"I'm driving."

She's really a kid. How could a mature woman ask someone to stare at her while driving? After taking the pizza out, we agree to go back to the unit.
