Serenity
One weekend, bumisita kami ni Five sa rest house namin sa Batangas. Yes, it's the house I bought years ago in a subdivision that Seb and the others own. They all got married by the way. Seb has four daughters already. And yup, it's Ylhysha that he got married to. My heart is just so happy and at ease for him, my dearest bestfriend in the universe. And Ylhysha is a gem. Obviously, Kleid and Fiona are endgame from the very start and they now have two kids. As for the funny guy in the corner, Ivan, he found his forever eight years ago, a while back when I was in New Jersey. Her name is Vienna, a ramp model who is strikingly beautiful. And Reeve, the womanizer, is happily married too-to Lyra's sister, Lauren. Who would have thought, right? Anyway, good thing we mentioned about Lyra because Five and I just saw her two months ago when we were having a weekend getaway in Baguio. She's five months pregnant. Yes, she is married-but not to Jeremy.
Lyra and Jeremy's story taught me something that is real, something that makes this life real. Hindi lahat pwedeng ibalik. Pwedeng magpatawad pero may mga bagay na dapat ng ibaon nalang talaga sa nakaraan o manatiling nakaraan nalang. As it turned out, Lyra has already moved on when Jeremy returned. And on her process of moving on from what happened that involved me and Five, it's another guy who helped her out from that situation. It's a business tycoon that she got married to. And as we can see, she's happy with her life now and my heart rejoices genuinely for her too.
What I see in these events, everything in our lives, is that we may all not end with the people we thought we would, we may not have that kind of happy-ending with them, but one thing is sure--there will be a happy ending. Like what they used to say, as cliche as it is, when it is not yet okay, it is not yet the end. And I would say, with all these, don't hold on to your past. Besides, if something you lost is meant for you, it surely will come right back. You might not end with the people or circumstance that you wish to but you will always be there or be with who you're meant to be because everything happens with a reason. Everything is meant to happen. That is for sure.
A smile spreads across my lips recalling something while I realize those realities in life.
"Mom looks so beautiful." I whisper in awe while my fingers trace the features of my mother in the picture. She stands beside a piano with Five's brother, kuya Uno.
"She was." Five agrees. "I know someone who looks just as beautiful as her."
Napabusangot ako sa sweet na pahayag niya, assuming of course that he's referring to me.
"She's the most beautiful, I would say." Five continues to flatter me while he glues his eyes on mine.
"Yeah. I'd love to meet her."
"I'm staring at her right now."
He should really stop flattering me or maybe just staring at me because most of the time, it always ends to us kissing. Not that I don't like it-oh I love kissing this man. Sometimes, he just doesn't really care about the when and where each time he feels like owning me with a kiss.
"Your mom used to be here a lot." Kwento niyang nagpalapad ng ngiti ko. My heart is in a calm state but it beats really fast--it's probably just overflowing in love. "She was kuya Uno's music teacher."
Five's family is really nice. All of the Palmers are very accommodating honestly of which I cannot help but be moved at for their kind gestures and treatment towards me. Kuya Uno takes time to tell me stories about my mom-how good she was at teaching and sharing her music, how good she was as a person. I wasn't able to control my emotions upon checking the photos while having him tell me those things.
My mom, the very woman I adore so much who I never met except in my dreams. She's real. Though this may sound merely just poetic or something not credible enough but mom is one of the reasons why I made it back to the right track because all this time, she's with me. I mean, God never lets me go the wrong side of the track by using my love and adoration for mom as a reminder of it. He led me to the right people. He led me home.
