18. Palmers

Serenity

Wala si Five sa condo pagkagising ko. Nag-iwan lang siya ng note sa counter para ipaalam sa'king susunduin niya ako para sabay na kaming pumunta sa simbahan para sa kasal. Matapos mag-inat-inat ng katawan ng ilang saglit ay pumunta na ako sa banyo para maligo. Kailangan kong magmukhang tao talaga ngayon dahil makakasalamuha ko ang pamilya ni Five. Malamang sa malamang, puro magaganda at gwapo ang mga kapamilya niya. I wonder what his brothers look like.

After taking a shower, I hurry immediately in putting make up on my face. It doesn't take long. Firstly, I am not very fond of make up because I don't think I have the talent for that. Second, I feel beautiful with my natural look. Hahahaha. Ang yabang. Seryoso, basic makeup skills lang talaga meron ako. On regular days, I only apply lip gloss. For today, I use lipstick and put on a little blush on. Mas nag-eeffort ako pagdating sa buhok. I curl my long hair. Seeing the big curls, I feel contented. Excited na sinuot ko ang binili ni Five na dress. It really fits me well. Ang galing mamili ni Ms. Guen. Bagay na bagay nga sa'kin ang halter neckline. Tingnan lang natin kung hindi ka mapapaamin sa ganda ko, Five Palmer. Hahaha. Ayan na naman ang kakapalan ng mukha mo Siri. Mabuti pa ay lumabas ka na at sa lobby ka nalang maghintay.

Pagkalabas ko ng unit, si Jeremy ang nakasalubong ko. Nakangiti itong lumapit sa'kin. Nakakailang ang titig niya. Geez.

"You look stunning." He comments, still gazing at me.

"Thanks."

"Where are you heading to? I can give you a lift."

"Ah. No. Susunduin ako ni Five." Sagot ko kaagad sa kanya. While waiting for the elevator, I catch him still staring at me with an annoying smile on his lips. Maybe, he is trying to tease me but still, it's pissing me off.

"You have something on your cheeks." He comments after a few seconds. I give him a frown. "Let me get it for you." He offers. Hindi sana ako papayag ngunit hindi niya ako hinintay na sumagot. I literally hold my breath when Jeremy just walks forward and leans closer while he strokes my cheek with his thumb. And that's the exact scene when the elevator pings open and reveals to me a displeased Five Palmer.

Five clears his throat, making Jeremy move backwards from me. Without a word said, Five draws closer and gives me an abrupt pull by the waist.

"Five Palmer." Jeremy mouths with a lopsided smile.

"Let's go, Serene." Five replies, not looking at me though but at Jeremy. I want to think that my eyes are only assuming—but the look in my handsome boy's eyes is sharp. Is he angry? I can smell argument and fight ahead so I choose not to make it worse. Sumunod ako kay Five papasok ng elevator. Pero hindi ko napigilang huwag lingunin si Jeremy. Ngayon, mas malinaw sa'king nakangisi siya.

"Five?" I finally speak up when the silence inside the car is torturing.

"What? Are you angry that I interrupted your moment with your guy? I am not going to apologize, Serenity." He says without taking his eyes off the road.

"Mo, we were just talking."

"Oh yeah? Cool." Is all he said and never spoke anything afterwards even when we arrive at the church. Everyone is already very busy and excited. The ceremony is about to start and here I am, feeling so out of place. I'm with strangers while Five is with his family. He glances at me from time to time though. Yon nga lang, ang sama ng tingin niya. Ba't ba siya galit? Totoo namang nag-usap lang kami kanina ni Jeremy. Iyon ba ang ikinagalit niya o may napanaginipan na naman siyang hindi niya nagustuhan? Tsk. Ang gulo niyang tao. Minsan nakakaasar. Pasalamat lang talaga siya at ang lakas niya sa'kin eh.

Finally, the processional march begins as the music starts to fill the air. My heart beats so fast. Probably, it's just because this is my first time to attend a wedding. Five's sister-in-law, the bride, is so beautiful. She looks like a Disney princess who came to life. While she walks down the aisle, everyone is in awe of her especially her groom, Five's brother, who looks like a royal prince. They are both crying. Oh, the people inside the church are crying. Kasali na ako don. Hindi ko alam pero 'yong mga luha ko, magkahalong saya at lungkot.
