44. Truth 'N Lies

Serenity

Binalot ng katahimikan ang kotse--paalis na kami ni Five sa Orchestra Heights. Hindi parin matigil-tigil sa pag-agos ang luha ko. Natatakot ako eh. Hindi ko na alam kung ano ang gagawin ko.

"Serene--" I flinch when I hear his voice. Worried, he cups my cheek and gives me a warm smile. "It's just me, baby."

Five catches the droplet of tear before it could roll down my face. "Baby, it's okay. This will all be okay."

"Natatakot ako Five." Pag-amin ko. "Ayaw kong may mangyari sa'yo...sa pamilya mo."

"No. Walang mangyayari sa'kin." He assures me and it sounds so good to be true.

"Kailangan ko ng umuwi, Five."

"No. You're staying with me."

"No. My daughter needs me."

"I will get her. I promise you Serene, aayusin ko lahat ng 'to para sa'ting dalawa. Hayaan mo 'kong gawin 'yon." Napailing ako. "I need you to stay."

"If daddy finds out... Five... I don't know. I can't risk both of you." Hinawakan ko siya sa magkabilang pisngi. "Kailangan kong bumalik. Our daughter needs me." Hindi sumagot si Five. Ngumiti lang siya ng mapakla, nakatingin sa malayo. "Aayusin ko 'to. Pero kailangan nasa tabi ako ng anak natin."

Hindi ko na maramdaman 'yong puso kong namamanhid na dahil sa sobrang sakit. "Five, tingnan mo 'ko. Please, kausapin mo 'ko."

"Is it that hard to stay by my side, Serene?"

"Hindi mo alam kung ano ang kayang gawin ni dad. Five, if things can only be less complicated..."

"Okay." He says coldly. "Gusto mong umalis? Sige. Pero mangako ka sa'kin, Serenity. Babalik ka sa'kin. I will fix this and you come back to me. Mangako ka."

Yumakap ako sa kanya ng mahigpit saka humagulhol sa malapad niyang dibdib. How could someone love me this much? Buong buhay ko, ito 'yong hinangad ko, ang may magmahal sa'kin ng ganito. Hearing that, Five smiles his very fascinating smile. It's sad but is still so fascinating. After cupping my chin with his warm hand, he leans down to press his lips to mine. That sends a rush of something both hot and cold down my body. Five slides his other arm around my hip as he deepens the kiss.

"I love you with all my life, Serenity." He whispers as our lips part from each other, leaving us breathless in a fascinating kind of way. "Don't run away again, okay?"

Tumango ako. Hindi ko mapigilan ang ngiting pumuslit sa labi ko dahil sa labis na saya. Ngayon ko lang ulit naramdaman 'to. The last time I felt this was when I gave birth to Khal, I felt so free. I didn't care about the world. When I saw my daughter's eyes, she showed me her father's. Somehow, I found hope despite the misery that awaits in my life for all the decisions I've made. I found hope.

"Please don't do anything, Five. Let me fix this. Ayokong mapakahamak ka. Hindi ko makakaya kapag may mangyayaring masama sa'yo."

Pagpasok ng kotse sa napakalawak na lawn ng mansion, napangiti ako ng mapakla dahil kusang bumalik sa alaala ko ang nakaraan kong punong-puno ng kasinungalingan.
