"Do you want to join us for lunch?"
She suddenly asked as she stood up with Seokjin.
"Sure!" Maybe it was too obvious that I had been waiting for her to ask.
"Let me invite my friends!" Seokjin suggested.
Sana nodded in response as he ran towards the crowd.
Seokjin returned in less than five minutes, this time with three people standing behind him.
I saw Sana waving at them the moment they came.
"Dahyun!" Sana said as she placed her hand above my head.
"This baby will be joining us for lunch today," She continued.
Baby.
"Hi! I'm Jeongyeon!" The girl spoke as she linked arms with the girl beside her.
"Sooyoung," The other girl smiled.
"Hi!" I turned to each of them and smiled.
"What abou-," I tilted my head to face another person, whose head was covered by Seokjin's.
"Ah! That's Jin! He's not very social," Seokjin cut me off as he let out a nervous chuckle.
Then I heard him whisper to Jin.
Probably to force him to say hello since he greeted me immediately after that.
"So where are we going?" I turned to Sana.
She was the person I knew most in that group of five.
"There's a good pasta place nearby!"
-
"You said nearby," I glanced at Sana still gasping for air.
The cute hamster looking girl seemed tired too, her thin bangs now messed up.
"I hate walking as much as you do, or maybe more," She said as she rested her hand on my head.
I jumped.
"You scared me!" She jumped.
We both burst into laughter for the second time today.
"Sana! Kim Dahyun! Let's go!" Jeongyeon called us.
I'm not lying when I say Jeongyeon intimidated me a little, from the moment I saw her at the lecture hall, to the first time we spoke.. she seemed a little scary.
"Okay," I nodded obediently as I ran towards her.
Sana walked quickly after me.
She must've read my mind somehow, because seconds later she hung her arm on my shoulder.
"No need to be afraid of Jeongyeon, the more you talk to her the less scary she seems,"
And with a simple sentence like that I felt so warm inside.
Like she really genuinely cared about me.
Something I haven't felt, have been desperately wanting to feel for a long while perhaps.
Loved.
I smiled and nodded at her in response.
I trusted her word on that one, considering she was two years older than Jeongyeon.
-
"So what do you want to eat?" She asked as the whole group turned to me.
Sana seemed to be like their leader despite her shyness, probably because she was the oldest.
"You all can decide," I shrugged and stared at her nervously.
Jeongyeon was looking staring and I couldn't take the pressure.
"Well you're the baby here," Sana chuckled.
"You probably have the smallest budget among us so you tell us what you want to eat," She did her usual arm hanging on my shoulder move again.
"R-ramen?" I looked at every single one of them.
Suddenly I felt like an intruder.
What was this kid doing here with all the older people? Chaeyoung and the others.. I belonged with them.. not this. Not here.
I tried to read their eyes. Did they really want me here?
Was I just a burden? Like a pathetic baby trying to hang out with the older kids
"Sure," A response came from the last person i expected.
Yoo Jeongyeon.
It wasn't just the response that shocked me, it was the fact that she was smiling.
Jeongyeon started walking towards the nearest food court as the others followed.
"I told you," Sana gave my arm a gentle slap as I chuckled.
I loved even the smallest, shortest lasting skin ships.
