The power got shot down in the whole city, no electricity, nothing to do, just kids laying at their backs, drowning in boredom."I'm so freaking bored." Courtney said
"Can we go home?" y/n asked
"No. Matt told us not to. The power's gonna come back in a while he said"
"He said that 2 hours ago. What does 'in awhile' means to him?"
"If this how we die then our life fucking sucks." The brunette-haired boy said
"You are over-reacting, Damien. No one dies of boredom."
"We'll be the first one"
"Let's play hide and seek." Shayne suggested
"Okay, Shayne. You start counting now."
They all ran before he could protest. She's looking for a good hiding spot but she can't think of a place. Then, she saw the cleaning closet with a sign that says 'keep out'. She wonder why do they need to put a sign over there, what's inside there that needs to be keep out of. Regardless, she still entered.
On the other hand, Damien is also looking for good hiding spot. He enters the bathroom but sees his other friend, Keith and told him to find another place. He then think of hiding under the table but it's such a hassle and it's easy to spot. Until he found a good hiding spot. He entered the closet. The girl inside thought it was Shayne so she didn't dare to speak.
"You're not Shayne. Who are you?" She asked
"Y/n?"
"Damien?"She tried to find a switch, her hands on the wall landed on his face.
"Ow" he groaned
"Sorry"
"What are you doing?"
"Looking for a switch"
"The power is down. Have you forgotten?"She didn't speak, she embarassed herself. Truth to be told, she likes him. But she didn't know that he also likes her.
"Why don't you just find another hiding spot?" she is trying to get him away.
"Fine." he tries to open the door but in dismay it won't open.
"It won't open."
"What do you mean? Lemme try" she turns it left and right but it still remained closed."Fuck." she muttered
"So what now?" she asked
"I'm just gonna call Shayne."He looked for his phone, in his pants, shirt, none.
"What's taking you so long?"
"My phone. I forgot it in the office."
"I'll do it." she then starts to look for her phone but she also did the same, she forgot it in the office."I forgot it in the office too."
"We're fucked."
One boy, one girl, sitting inside the closet while drowning in boredom.
"I wish Shayne would find us sooner." He lied, he wish Shayne would take forever to find them.
"What are we going to do?"
"I dunno. Just hope, I guess."Silence grew again. They want to speak with each other but they don't know what to say.
She just then giggled to herself, the boy was shookt and ask why she's laughing.
"Nothing."
Back to silence again. If it can kill, they will be both dead by now.
It's been half an hour or so, they're still haven't been found.
"Are you hungry?" he asked
"Yes. I'll eat after we get out of here."
"Do you want to hear a story?"
"Fine." Like there's anything to do, she thought."The handsome young Knight is in love with the Princess, and she, too, is in love with him -- though she seems to be not entirely aware of it. Despite the friendship that blossoms between them -- or perhaps because of that veryfriendship -- the young Knight finds himself so humbled and speechless that he's totally unable to bring up the subject of his love. So one day he asks the Princess, point blank: 'Is it better to speak, or to die?'" he ended the story.
"So what happened? Did he say it?"
"No.""If I'm the knight I'll say it."
"Why?"
"Because we're all going to die at some point. It's our only destination. Why waste your time keeping your feelings to yourself." She's straightforward, that's what he likes about her. She always know what's right. The boy can't do anything but to nod.
"How about you? What will you do if you're the knight?" she asked eagerly, craving for his answer.
"I'll rather wait and die." he answered her question truthfully. All he's saying is true. His tongue always backs out every time she's around.
"You rather waste your time on waiting than cherishing your moment?" she argued.
"Why is it the Knight's fault? It should be both of their faults because they like each other and they didn't tell each other." He speaked calmly."I mean. If you can then you should." her voice is getting slightly annoying, high pitched and uncontrollable.
"The princess would get married with someone better regardless."
"So? If the knight told her they would probably ended up together."
"What if the princess likes someone else?" he argued back.
"What??? You said in your story that---" she said unfinished, she knew this is not about the story anymore, this is something a bit more personal but she didn't assume. They didn't speak to each other again. She curled up, her head on her knees. He did the same.
They both think; is it better to speak or to die? They both thought about the knight. Why does the princess and the knight didn't confess to each other. What is there to risk?
"If this how we die, I wanted to say something before that happens." he spoke
"What is it?" She tries not to get her hopes up.
"I like you."She didn't say anything. He got worried, he felt rejected.
"You did what the knight should have done and I'm gonna do what the princess should have done too."
He didn't reply, he gave her a moment.
"I like you too."
They didn't speak again but their minds have the same thought. She went closer and so did he. Until their lips interacted with each other. They both held each other, afraid of letting go.
Until the door opens.
"Finally. It's about time." Shayne interrupted.
They both departed and didn't care what Shayne saw.
"The power's been back an hour ago." He said and left.
They just both smiled at each other and held each other's hand while walking back to the office.
