Chapter eight

"Well, since no one is gonna hang out with me, let's take a walk, Bilbo! Come here, boy!" Bilbo came running down the stairs and jump excitedly as soon as he saw I'm holding the leash. I leave a note saying I'll be back in a few, grab my coat and make my way out of the house. Gosh, the smell of fresh air does hit you hard. Birds chirping in this early morning, the streets seem busier than usual. I smile at all the passerby that I see. Korea is friendly! I am glad to be back. We stopped by at a dog cafe to rest our tired feet as we have been walking for nearly 45 minutes. I let Bilbo play with the other dogs while I grab something to eat.

"I'll have a scone and one hot latte please," The cashier nods and gave me a buzzer as soon as I am done with the payment. I went back to my seat and takes out my phone to take a picture of the dog cafe. Soon after a few minutes, the buzzer went off and I carry the food that I had ordered back to the table. Just as I was about to have a bite of my scone, my phone vibrated and mum decided to video call me.

"Hey, mum! Hi dad!"

Oh! Where are you? Are you outside alone? What are you doing there? Where are the rest? I couldn't help but chuckle at how worried mum sounded. It's a nature in mum to worry about the slightest thing. And that includes her daughter. "I'm at a dog cafe near our house! I'm with Bilbo, just wanted to get out and get some fresh air since I didn't have the time as soon as I landed in Korea." Mum nods and told me to explore a bit more in Korea since I will be here like forever.

Oh, honey? The business trip might be extended. Not sure when we will be able to make it back home but stay safe okay? Listen to grandma and grandpa while we are away. Don't give them a hard time, okay sweetheart? I nod and gave mum and dad a reassuring smile. I mean I wouldn't want to give both my grandparents a hard time since they are already quite old. "No worries! You guys take care okay? I gotta go, bye!" I end the call and finally have a bite on my scone.

We spent nearly 4 hours there at the dog cafe so now it's time to have a walk at Han River. Mum says that place is best for strolling, riding a bike, picnic, you name it. Everything! I decided to take a stroll down Han River with a latte on my hand and Bilbo leading the way. I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief and went on to have a seat on the stone bench. "Bilbo, let's admire the view okay boy?" He barks and lays down the on the floor while enjoying the view like I am. I could really get used to it. I close my eyes and enjoy the wind that is lightly brushing through my face. This is definitely healing. A healing place. My healing place. And another beep came out of my phone. "Elaine? What does she want now?"

Need you back home asap!

"Yikes! Okay, healing time is over, time to head home, cmon Bilbo," We hurried back home and I could hear screaming and shouting from outside the door. I slowly open it and saw shattered glass all over the place. I put on my house slippers and carried Bilbo up to my room. He is quite heavy but wouldn't want him stepping onto the tiny pieces of glass. "Thank god you are home! It's been like this for 3 hours already!"

"What happened?" I asked, worried. Worried if it's normal for this to happen on a daily basis? Worried because has both grandma and Sunwoo has anger issues? "Eric accidentally told grandma they hold a party here last night, grandma didn't take it easily as soon as she smells her favourite carpet smelled like alcohol. Grandpa told us to stay in our room and no matter what happens, don't come out AT ALL" I pull Elaine in for a hug and rubs her back in circles, she must have been scared by all this that is happening right now. The fact that she was alone to made me feel guilty to leave her to endure this alone.

"Hey, no matter what happens, I'm here. Always and forever." Elaine looks up and smiles, "Promise?" I hold her hand up and return the smile back to her, "Promise. That's what sisters are for," Elaine went in for another hug.

After a few minutes, everything has gotten quiet. I slowly opened the door and went over to see if everything really had died down. I let out a sigh of relief. I was about to go down the stairs when I felt a pair of strong arms back hugged me. I froze in place not knowing what to do, this guy snuggles upright to the crook of my neck and inhale the smell of my perfume. "God you smell sweet," I turn around to see it was Hyunjae. "What did I just say earlier today!? To behave or I'll cut your balls!"

"Sweetheart, you are so adorable when you are mad. Please I am on my best behaviour. That scene wasn't sexy," He pointed at the shattered glass on the floor. I sigh and asked him to help me out since he is leaving anyway. I send him to the gate of our house and pause, "Sorry you had to see all that," Hyunjae shrugs with his hands in his jacket pocket. He told me he has seen much worst every time he comes around and hangs out. This wasn't the first time. So me, being the curious sister asked him if Sunwoo nor grandma has anger issues. "Mostly is just your grandmother. I'm not sure, ever since your mum re-married, your grandmother makes it hard for Sunwoo. Just wish I knew how to help him thou," And here I thought my family was peaceful. Was happy. But behind those walls cracks open all the anger that has been pilled up.

"But I'm glad you are back, Sunwoo wouldn't stop talking bout you. He keeps saying how excited he is to see his sister back here. He feels whole when you are around, happy, contained." I nod and thanked him for telling me about grandma and Sunwoo's back story. I turn around to walk back to my house when he spins me around, pulling me closer to him. I gasped and saw how close we are. Wow, he does have beautiful features. His eyes are so pretty and it's a perfect shape for a guy. His skin is so fair and clear. His nose is sharp, everything about him is perfectly sculpted. He is really beautiful. A man like him shouldn't exist in this world.
