[ Thanks to the feedbacks, I'm writing this :) Longest chapter I ever wrote, Enjoy! ]
Heyley
I took the seat beside my dad, apposite from Kris and folded my sleeves to check on the latest portfolio given by the headquarters.
"I'm so sorry my dad can't be here today Mr. Song, he left me in charge instead," Kris said giving an apologetic look to my dad.
"It's okay. I think it would be easier for Heyley to discuss this matter with you too," my dad say taking a glimpse of me. I just kept quiet and fold through the pages of the plastic file.
"Either way, I've gotten help from the 11 team leaders and found several strategic locations for our new stand." Kris passed my dad a new file wish I haven't seen before.
"What do you think, Heyley?" My dad asked as we shared our view together of the pages.
"This location seems nice. We should do it more outskirt but not to far away from the city," I said pointing on the map.
"Yes, indeed. And aside from that, how did the survey went?" My dad asked turning his head to both Kris and I.
"It was good. We caught many ideas and it seems like those owners wanted to invest on our upcoming plan too," I said blatantly and continued what I did before which was acting like I'm engross looking through the pages. But my plan was actually avoiding even the slightest eye contact with Kris.
"And there's a list of facilities which I planned to show to both team headquarters board on the upcoming meeting which is yet to be discuss," Kris answered my dad.
"Very well, let's hold a meeting next week." My dad said and I just nodded there.
"Thank you for sparing your time, Mr Song. I should really get going," Kris said as he stood up.
"Why don't you stay over for dinner?" My dad asked.
My eyes widen at my dad's sudden offer towards Kris. Please say no, please say no.
"That's really nice of you to offer Mr. Song but I don't think I should intrude and---
"You're leaving already? That's too bad. I just told the maids to set up an extra seat for you." My mum came out of nowhere.
Just great! Just when I thought everything is going to end early.
_______
This is more nerve wrecking than I thought it would be. Kris and I were seating face to face and this was actually the first time ever for an outsider to join us for dinner at our very own house. Other times it would always be in some fancy restaurant.
"So Kris, I heard you took up your business degree in Canada, how was it?" My mum asked facing him.
It's funny how my mum could get along with Kris so easily even though it's the first that they met. But seriously though, this conversation is no longer about work.
"It was hard at first but anyone would get the hang of it after doing it for quite some time," he said while I'm occupying myself still not facing him and cutting the loaf of grilled lamb chop on my plate. What is it with this knife today?! Why isn't it cut in half already?! For god sake I've been trying to cut this for the last five minutes.
Just then, my plate was lifted and replaced with perfectly sliced of meat loaf and to my surprise, Kris is the one who stood up and exchanged our plates.
"Here, eat up." Kris said while giving me a small smile.
"Thank you," I said softly and gulp the big lump of nervousness down my throat. I'm still mad at him for what he did but a part of me wanted to forgive him. Don't fell for it, Heyley.
