'Anything to say, Spencer?' Dad asked me. I looked again at the report. Yeah, I was failing most of my classes because I had my mind in another place. I shook my head, waiting

'The principal called, a few minutes ago' Mom added, looking at me with disappointed eyes.

'And?' I asked unsure, actually I was scared.

'You're suspended, for a week' Dad stated, shaking his head. 'We're very disappointed of your behavior. Tomorrow we have an appointment with the principal, to talk about your situation.' He added, looking at mom.

'You're grounded, Spencer. No electronics, no parties. You can't go out, no phone calls' She dictated.

'Are you being serious? What is this? Am I a prisoner?' I snapped, obviously annoyed. How am I supposed to live without my social life?

'No, Spencer. But your attitude recently, has not been as expected.' Mom replied. I got up from the seat and ran outside, slamming the door. I heard mom yelling my name, but I kept running through the hills. I reached the cliff, my favorite. I was on the top of a hill where you could see the beach and hear the waves. Nobody knew about this secret place. Well, except Lisa.

'Hey' She sat down next to me, a few minutes after I arrived. I looked at her, her hair was in a ponytail and she was sweating. Well, she probably ran behind me.

'What are you doing here?' I asked her. She sighed.

'They were asking for you, and I knew where you were so, I ran here. I didn't tell anybody, if that's what you're wondering' She stated, looking at the waves. 'Nice place you have here' She added.

'Yeah, It actually calms me' I let out. She looked at me.

'Look, I know we don't talk often, but I've been watching you. You remind me of me at your age, and I know what you're going through, even though you deny it. If you need help, you-' I interrupted her.

'I don't know what you're talking about' I said, getting up. She took my arm.

'You do know, don't play dumb with me.' She snapped back. I frowned.

'It's dinner time, we should probably go' I said, turning around and walking to the house. Dinner was actually the most awkward moment of my life. I looked at my plate, playing with the food. Lisa was looking at me the whole time, hitting my foot once in a while. She wanted me to eat, but I wasn't hungry. I was still mad at my parents. I got up.

'Where are you going?' Mom demanded me.

'To my room' I replied harshly. I walked there, searching for my phone. Right, they took it away from me. I lay down in my bed and fell asleep quickly.

NEXT DAY

'Wake up you lazy bun!' Lauren threw a pillow on me. I stood there, trying not move, pretending that I was dead or something. 'Spencer?' Lauren asked walking closer.

'BOO!' I yelled as she was closer. She fell back, and I laughed so much.

'Not funny!' She exclaimed. 'Mom and dad are asking for you, go downstairs' She said before getting up and crawling back to her bunk. I put my head in a bun and walked to the living room. Mom and dad were talking, probably about me.

'Good morning, Spencer' Mom greeted me. I just glared at her, still mad about yesterday. She sighed, motioned me to sit next to her. I sat in front, disobeying her orders.

'So, what's the problem now?' I asked, annoyed and desperate. It was 9:30 am and I wanted to go back to sleep.

'Early this morning we went to your school.' Dad informed me.

'And?' I asked excited, hoping that the principal has decided to remove the suspension.

'You are still suspended, if that's what you're wondering. But we have some news for you. On our way back, we met with Richard Parker, who's coming to the BBQ party this saturday.' Dad added, I raised an eyebrow, wondering why the heck should I care about that? oh btw, he was jess's dad.

'Do you think that I care about that?' I asked him. He shook his head.

'Yes, you do. Next monday they're going to Tokio for some meetings. Jess is staying with us' Dad concluded. My face dropped.

'Wait what? You've got to be kidding me!' I exclaimed, angrier than before. 'She accepted?' I asked.

'Of course she did, in fact she was very excited about spending time with you! You two used to be so close' Mom said happier. I glared at her again.

'Yeah, well no thanks. She's not staying in this house' I blurted out.

'She's staying, we're not asking for your permission. Please be nice, or try at least' Dad concluded getting up of his chair and walking to who knows where. Mom walked to the kitchen and I stood there, closing my eyes trying to contain the tears that were threatening to fall. I ran upstairs to the bathroom, locking the door behind me. Jess was the reason why I started to harm myself and throwing up, to be prettier, she has made my life a living hell and now my parents are bringing her home? What have I done? My safe place was no longer safe. I slashed my wrists 13 times, for each member of my family that I was letting down. I saw the blood flowing down my arms, to the floor. I cleaned them up and put on my hoodie, again.

'Hey' Lisa greeted me, once I walked out of the bathroom. She probably saw my red eyes, because she walked closer, worried. 'What happened?' She asked.

'Nothing' I replied, walking to my room and climbing to my bunk. I lay there the whole day, until dinner time, when mom walked inside the room.

'I know you're upset about what we told you earlier, but she's a good girl' Mom tried to convince me. It didn't work.

'I don't care' I replied harshly. Mom sighed.

'Dinner is ready, I'll be waiting for you downstairs' She added, walking out. I knew that skipping this meal would be hard, so I fixed my hair and walked downstairs, still on my pajamas.

'Cute set of clothes, Spencer' Dani joked.

'Those are designer shoes?' Lauren said, laughing at my cute giraffe slippers. I sat down quietly, not bothering in reply or glare at them.

'Is everything okay?' Kath asked me, worried. I looked at my parents.

'Ask them.' My mom sighed, starting to explain the whole story. By the end, everybody was happy about that. Well, except me. I got up annoyed and walked to my room. I opened the window and sat in there, with my feets hanging. Somebody opened the door.

'Are you sneaking out?' Lisa asked. I turned to her, shaking my head. The sun was setting and it was beautiful. 'So, what happened?' She asked, breaking the awkward silence. I sighed.

        'Nothing really' I lied.
