Inko had gotten quite used to seeing Katsuki around her little ones, she even had even gotten a larger bed for the boys to share. Izumi no long wanted to share a bed with 'sweaty, stinky, smothering jelly beans' as she called the boys once. While the twins had been moved to separate rooms, on occasion Inko can find all three in Izumi's bed; no doubt smothering the quiet girl. In their fourth year, Katsuki discovered his quirk. The display of adorable little orange lights from his still baby-step explosions (often sounding like firecrackers), always seemed to make Izumi giggle; especially if it were a sudden surprise. Izuku however, went straight onto praising mood, constantly showering Katsuki with affection for his awesome quirk. The little albino was given so much praise that there were moments were Inko wanted to sit the children down and tell them one of her old memories, tell them about the monsters she's met and the dangers she faced and ache of loss. But she didn't. She kept her memories too herself, never saying a word about her past and letting the children do as they please.

Then one day, a day she wished she could forget, came that she wasn't prepared for.

Just before the children were four years old, their class had been invited to see the Takumi Memorial Water Museum and meet a few pro-hero's while there. Inko allowed her children to go, there was no reason to hold them back from it and Hisakawa was willing to escort them. In fact, as it turned out, many of the mothers in building B were in the area of the field trip. Yuko worked near the ocean museum and Miho was one of the pro hero's on duty in that area. So with the final nail in her coffin being Izumi's best puppy dog eyes (and not Izuku's for once), Inko signed the permission slip. one week later she received a package for her twins, it contained their uniform for the field trip. It was a simple little blue top, with a silver emblem of a a canine with five tails that looked like cherry blossom petals, their bottoms were simple yellow shorts. to say Izuku and Izumi loved the new uniform would be an understatement, the twins wanted to wear the uniforms everyday and even sleep in them. it took Inko a long argument with the twins to convince them that it wasn't a good idea.

She first found out her mistake on the T.V. at her work, she had just walked through the doors and hadn't even clocked on yet when she noticed everyone staring in abject terror at the news feed.

"Midoriya-san!" Her manager appeared out of the crowd to wrap his thick arms around her.

"Ma-manager!" Inko gasped, "c-can't! Be-breathe!"

"I'm so sorry Midoriya-san!" It took her a moment to process his words, distracted with the witness on her shoulder, the salt now staining her nose and the sound of stifled sniffling. "I'm so glad you're Okay."

"What do you mean? What's going on?" She started struggling, trying to push her manager away so she could see the screen better. "What's going on? What happened?"

"Bring to you live, the devastation at the waterfront," she heard the news cast just over the din of moving bodies. "It has been confirmed that the terrorists attacked the Takumi Memorial Ocean Museum knowing full well that several dozen elementaryand primary schools were attending—"  someone turned off the T.V. just in the nick time before Inko lost her mind. Her manager's arms felt tight, too tight, the silence of her coworkers too loud. Then, like a miracle to her numbing mind, the sound of clicking, like witch's nails on marble, began to echo.

"What are you all standing around for?" Mikuko's voice sounded hard and cold, like ice water down Inko's back. "Were the closest hospital capable of emergency surgery. Get yourself prepped and ready! We're about to go into red-lane!"

"But—"

"But nothing!" Mikuko snapped at her fellow manager, "what part of we need every staff member available did you misunderstand?" Inko turned towards the door, cold serenity and acceptance clearing her previously foggy brain. "Inko Midoriya! Where are you going? I just said we'll need—ulk!" Mikuko choked on her words as suddenly she was lifted into the air, just high enough her heels ghosted along the edge of the marble floor.

"You want me to remain and ignore my children?" Inko's voice was cold and clear, so different from the typically warm radiance she normally spoke with. "I will tell you this only once: I will choose my children over my job, my home, my city, my county, my life. I will choose my children's lives above all others."
With that, Inko left her job, the air trembling with her every step. Mikuko collapsed on the hospital floor, coughing and hacking, quickly ripping off her choker and rubbing at her throat.

"You crossed a line," the head manager growled, his hands fisting together.

"Oh shut up," Mikuko snapped as she struggled back onto her feet. "What were you going to do? Talk her into remaining here because we're the closest hospital and there for all the injured would come here? That's the same as saying her kids are hurt, idiot!" Mikuko turned on her heels and stormed away. "Everyone! Prepare for hell! We're not getting any sleep tonight!"

"You know," one of the nurses started, "she might be a bitch but she can manipulate people like no one else." No one could contradict the new nurse, all choosing to silently agree and follow Mikuko's orders.
