"Dude did you see my business?" Jojo asked, "She threw a fit and now it's rubble."
"I'm aware," Leo drawled.
"Leo, don't be too much of an ass," the doctor chuckled. "she'll be fully healed in four-months. You have till then to clear Best Jeanist."
"I'll take care of her medical fees," Best Jeanist said, quickly pulling out his card. "please send the bills to this address."
"No need for that just yet," the doctor refused to take clam of the card. "save that for later, when I will bill you."
As promised, Leo was a nightmare to deal with. He dug up all kinds of information, some of which Best Jeanist wasn't even aware was still around; like his parent's contact info. The man dug into his personal life, not there was to be much digging to begin with, then dug into the financial status of both of Best Jeanist's business. Even his house was given a through examination by three top class building inspectors, each by one month apart and keeping their examination going for an entire week. Best Jeanist ended up sleeping over at Jojo's apartment just so he could get some rest without flashlights flickering through his windows. By the time the four-months was up and no word from Leo how he was doing with the fine-toothed-comb examination, Best Jeanist began wondering if he would be able to clam the child as his ward. He met with Jojo on the last time of the child's stay in the hospital, when even the doctor was getting an ear-full from his superior about keeping Itsuki for so long in the hospital. Best Jeanist, Jojo and the doctor moved towards Itsuchi's hospital room where they discovered Leo was talking with the young girl. Itsuki didn't seem afraid at all, she was excitedly chittering away as she held one of his paws between her hands, examining it as any curious child would.
"Young one are you sure you want to live with Best Jeanist?" the three males stopped around entrance, listening closely as the two talked.
"Who's that?"
"The blonde man wearing an excessive level of genes." Jojo nearly burst out laughing, his friend gave him a not so pleased-look.
"The thread man?"
"Yes,"
"He's nice. I like him." Best Jeanist smirked at Jojo, who rolled his eyes.
"Why?"
"His energy is clean and his blood is good. No icky-ness to make me itchy." The doctor frowned thoughtfully, peaking around the edge of the door to look at the child.
"Icky-ness?"
"Bull-man had icky-stuff in his blood and it made me itchy. I didn't like it. But thread-man is good. I like him."
"So you want to live with him?"
"Live with?"
"To spend your life in the same house as him, well, until you're eighteen at least." The girl pulled back and stared at Leo, suddenly tears started spilling from her eyes and her face contorted into terror and fear.
"Will I go back to the glass-bottle?"
"no, no, no you will not go into a glass bottle," Best Jeanist said, hurrying into the room, looking panicked about the prospect of that ever happening again.
"Weally?" Itsuki asked, her voice contorted with her tears
"Promise," Best Jeanist kneeled beside her and smiled the best he could, "I'd rather die then let that happen to you again." Leo pulled back with the declaration, his nose twitched a couple times in the air, then he stood and backed away.
"kitty?" Itsuki called, looking at Leo in confusion.
"Congratulations Best Jeanist, you've passed all your tests." Leo left without looking back, seemingly dismissing the entire case with a huff and spinning on his heals.
"Kitty? Where you go?"
"There are other children I have to take care of," Leo replied, "you be good for Best Jeanist, understand?"
"Who that?"
"Me," Best Jeanist replied, chuckling as he patted her head. "Would you like to live with me?"
"Will I keep my name?"
"if you want to," Best Jeanist replied. "did you know my birth name is Tsunagu Hakamata?"
"So what would be my name?"
"You would keep Itsuchi, as your name of course," Tsunagu replied kindly. "Do you know your last name?"
"big brother told me before he hide me." Itsuchi answered with a gentle smile, "he said my name is 'Itsuchi Niitobya' and that I should never forget it."
"And you didn't did you?" Tsunagu smiled as Itsuchi giggled.
"Itsuchi-chan," the doctor called gently, rubbing at his chin as he stared blankly ahead. "Can you say 'tsunagu' for me?"
"Zunagu?"
"can you repeat after me for a moment?"
"Why?"
"Its an easy game okay?" the doctor smiled at her and she agreed to play it with for a little bit. Through out the game they discovered that the child had a lisp, every 'tsu' became 'zu', 'r' became 'w', and some of her vowels slurred together.
"Thank you Itsuchi," the doctor replied with a smile. "I'm gonna talk to Tsunagu and Jojo outside, just for a moment okay?"
"Okay?" the girl tilted her head to the side in confusion, not understanding the need to do so. Once the males were outside the doctor leaned against the wall and pinched his brow.
"What are you thinking doc?" Jojo asked
"I'm thinking her brother is illiterate, or at least not very well versed in our language," the doctor stated dully. "She has a lisp, which informs me she hasn't been speaking for long. Likely just learning or figuring it out on her own. She can't discern the difference between 'zu' and 'tsu' which means that her name could be Izuki or Izumi because no way in hell did a parent name their child 'Itsuchi'. I highly doubt there would be a record of that."
"Even if 'Itsuchi' is her real name there wouldn't be any records." Jojo rubbed the back of his neck as he gave a heavy sigh. "from what we gathered, she was raised in an incubation tube. Her brother freed her from it so maybe her name was on the tube and that's what he relayed?"
"If that's the case for all we know her name could be an anagram," the doctor cringed. "Oh creation, that could be all kinds of things..."
