We got to Hogwarts and Draco, Blaise, and I, along with another girl named Nicole Fitzpatrick. (A/N That's a little shoutout to my best friend) She was very nice and the four of us got along quite well.
Hagrid greeted me at the docks and Draco, Blaise, Nicole, and I joined the group of first years. The four of us were waiting to be brought into the great hall when Harry and Ron found where I was.
"Hey Rebecca, who are they?" he asked nodding his head toward Blaise, Draco and Nicole.
Blaise came over first and introduced himself and Nicole then followed.
When it was Draco's turn he put his hand out and said, "I'm Draco, Draco Malfoy." Ron was laughing which was quite rude but Draco didn't help much.
"Think my name is funny do you? No need to ask yours. Red hair and a hand me down robe. You must be a Weasley." Ron flustered, "Draco turned around to my brother and said, "Potter, I can help you stay far away from the wrong sort."
Harry waited a moment looked at Ron and said, "I think I can sort out the wrong sort for myself, thanks."
I could tell Draco had tried to be civil in his own way but he crossed one of Harry's friends and the first rule is to never do that.
McGonagall came in and told us more about the school like houses and house points.
As she was leading us into the hall I turned to Draco and said, "You should try and get along with them. My friend, you have made yourself an enemy. First rule of getting on his good side, don't cross his friends or family."
Draco looked a bit scared at that and replied, "You still want to be friends, right?"
I replied, "Of course, just because you are my brothers enemy doesn't mean I can't be friends with you. You act like I follow his every command."
Draco asked me confused, "What about the whole protective older brother thing?"
I answered him quick, "Hon, I'm his protective older sister." He blushed at being called hon but quickly got back to it.
The first name I recognized was called when McGonagall shouted, "Fitzpatrick, Nicole."
Nicole walked slowly up to the hat and McGonagall set it on her head. It took a bit but finally it bursted out, "SLYTHERIN"
Blaise, Draco, and I clapped and then another name I knew well was called, "Granger, Hermione."
The hat was placed on her head and about 10 minutes later it yelled, "It better be GRYFFINDOR."
I smiled at my muggleborn friend and clapped loud.
Next was Draco. The hat was set barely on his head when it yelled, "SLYTHERIN." I clapped ridiculously loud and even cheered.
Finally, we got to the Ps, "Potter, Harry."
It took awhile and everyone was quiet unlike with the other sortings. I could see my brother mumbling something along the lines of, "not Slytherin."
Finally after almost 15 minutes, the hat rang out, "GRYFFINDOR."
I was proud of my brother so as any sister would do I embarrassingly cheered for him until I was interrupted by a name I knew all too well.
"Potter, Rebecca." The crowds of cheers for my brother quickly faded as I walked up the stairs to the chair and hat. I sat down and the hat was placed on my head and it started talking, "Ah the other Potter. You have quite the mind and exceptional power. You are a fast learner. I can tell a lot comes easy to you. Normally I would put you in Raven...no that isn't right. I can see you are very witty. You have a lot of ambition and you are quite cunning. I know I'll put you in SLYTHERIN!"
I took off the hat and walked to the Slytherin table. A black haired man in dark robes looked to me and smiled. Everyone who saw him do it gasped. I wasn't sure why though.
My brother was smiling and clapping and I could see Ron, who didn't like Slytherins much or at all, give me a thumbs up. Hermione and Nicole were also clapping loudly.
I took my seat by Draco, Nicole, and Blaise who unfortunately sat next to Pug Face Parkinson. Oh yeah she's here. I wish she had her on house of other whiners. Across from me was a boy, for sure older, but he seemed nice enough.
"I believe you are the only person to ever make Professor Snape smile."
I looked at him and said, "Who is he?"
"He is the potion master here. He favors us Slytherin but still he's kinda grim."
"What's your name?" I asked.
"Name's Marcus Flint, I'm a fifth year, and the Slytherin Quidditch Captain."
I looked to Draco and whispered, "What is quidditch?"
Draco looked at me and replied, "It's a sport. I'll explain later. Just act like you know."
"Wow, that's cool," I said to Marcus.
"So, you are Rebecca Potter."
"Yup, the one and only," I replied.
Later on, the Slytherin prefects took us to our common room and dormitories. I had to share a room with pug-face but at least I had Nicole and two really nice Slytherin girls in my room as well. Their names were Leona Avery and Tara Wickson. Leona was a pureblood and was the daughter of a death eater but she thought her father was crazy anyways and didn't believe in the pureblood junk and Tara was a halfblood like me. Her mum was some witch named Evelyn Peters and her father was a muggleborn named Daniel Wickson. I felt at home in Slytherin. My ambition was to make sure I got a home and it has been fufilled.
