(Y/n)'s POV

As a child, I was always told to never cross the southern bridge. No one ever crossed that bridge. It was old and rickety, and there were rumors that there were horrendous things on the other side.

I was constantly curious. What was so horrifying that no one would dare go near the bridge? As a young member of the angel race, I was too naïve to think of anything that could possibly be bad. I was too sheltered to have a clue about the darkness within some creatures. So one day, I acted upon my curiosity.

It was dark outside, and most angels were either in their homes or fast asleep. I quietly crept out of my house and made my way to the bridge. As I approached the bridge, a wave of fear rolled over me. Even so, I kept going. When I took my first step onto the bridge, I realized how long it was. I couldn't even see the end. It was long and dipped downwards. After a couple minutes of walking, there was a thick fog over the bridge. I couldn't even see the steps in front of me. I kept going, and due to the fog, I ended up falling through a hole in the bridge. I kept falling for what felt like forever. As the ground came into view, I braced myself for impact. The impact, however, was not very hard. Instead, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my body, keeping me from hitting the ground.

"Oh, thank you so much!! I would've died if you weren't there to catch me!" I exclaimed, looking at my savior. He was young, just like me, maybe a couple years older than me. He had a very cute face and adorable ears.

"'T-thank you?'" He asked, tilting his head in confusion. He put me down and furrowed his eyebrows, thinking. I was confused as to why he was confused, but then it dawned on me.

"You don't know what 'thank you' means?" I asked, astonished. He nodded sheepishly. I let out a small chuckle.

"It's... well, it's a bit harder to explain than I thought, but... it's something you say to show that you're happy for something someone has given to you or done." I tried to explain. He just slowly nodded. I then looked to see his dark clothes. Anything dark was banned where I lived, so it was shocking, yet refreshing, to see such dark clothes. I then realized he was staring at my garments in confusion, too.

"We're not allowed to wear anything bright." He stated, looking at my white dress.

"And where I'm from, we're not allowed to wear anything dark." He just stood there for a minute before quickly jumping back.

"Y-y-you're an angel!" He cried, eyes wide with fear and shock.

"Yea. What's wrong with that?" I asked.

"I-I'm a demon! We can't be speaking to each other!" He yelled.

"Why not? What's a demon?" I asked. His fear quickly turned to confusion.

"'What's a demon?' Y'know, terrible monsters that are filled with evil. The exact opposite of angels." He said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

"But you don't seem to be filled with evil." I said. He didn't know how to respond, so he just kept quiet. I decided to go next to him and sit down. He hesitantly followed in suit, taking the spot right next to me.

We talked for a while, mostly about the differences between our lives. Eventually, the sky started to brighten. I took that as my cue to leave.

"I should probably leave." I stated, looking sadly up at the sky. The fog was gone, so I could see the bridge high above me.

"O-oh. Okay. Will I see you again?" He asked. I nodded.

"I'll come again tonight." I said. He shook his head.
