(Y/n)'s POV
"C'mon Eunjae! We have to go home!" I called to my three-year-old daughter. She went down the slide and slowly waddled over to me and her twin brother, Byungchul. On her way to us, she stopped and looked at a lone flower next to the path.
"Why is sissy so slow?" Byungchul whined, pulling on my sleeve.
"She's just living in the moment Byungchul. There's nothing wrong with that." I took his hand and outstretched my other hand for Eunjae to take. She came up to me and took my hand. Together, we walked home from the park. Once home, we all plopped down onto the couch, exhausted from our day of playing. On TV, Hello My Twenties was playing.
"Can you tell us the story again? The one about us?" Eunjae asked quietly. I looked down at Eunjae with a sad smile.
"Of course." I patted my lap for Byungchul and Eunjae to sit on. Turning off the TV, I took a deep breath.
"When I was younger, I started working at my job. I wanted to be an actress. On my first day there, a handsome man around my age gave me a tour. He told me everything there was to know about the place, including all the artists that worked there. When he finished the tour, he offered to buy me lunch. From then on, we became best friends. We hung out whenever we got the chance, we made inside jokes, and we told each other about everything we wanted in life. One day, we were talking about having families of our own when we grew up. He said how he wanted to have two kids; one boy, one girl. He told me about how he had thought about this his whole life, and how he wanted their names to be Byungchul and Eunjae. He told me that he thought those names were the best names in the world, and how his kids deserve only the best. He talked about wanting to spoil his kids with all the love in the world. About ten years later, we got married. We decided that we would have our two kids, and luck had it that we would have twins, and they would be a boy and a girl. Sadly, your father had to leave for his military duty before you two were born." I told them.
"Will we see appa soon?" Byungchul asked. My eyes became hot, and they watered slightly.
"I really hope so." I was told almost a year ago that he had to prolong his military time due to attacks on his base. They didn't give me any further information. Eunjae hugged me, and Byungchul followed in suit. A couple tears fell from my eyes.
"Eomma, don't cry." Byungchul said, wiping my tears away. I smiled at him before kissing both of them on their foreheads.
"Eomma is going to go make dinner now, okay?" I said, getting up.
"Oooh!!! Can we please have ramen?!" Eunjae asked, giving me puppy dog eyes. Byungchul did the same, and I pinched their cheeks because they were so cute.
"Of course."
Later that night, when putting Byungchul and Eunjae to bed, they asked me a question.
"Can we see the picture of you and appa that you keep in your room?" Byungchul asked. I nodded and went to get the picture. It was taken a couple months before I got pregnant with the twins. Jiyong and I were in the park, and we took a selfie together. His head was on top of mine, both of us looking fondly into the camera. The twins looked at the picture in awe.
"Appa is really handsome." Eunjae said.
"Yes, yes he is."
The next morning, I woke up and started doing my daily routine. For once, the twins weren't awake yet, so I went downstairs to make myself a coffee and a nice breakfast. I walked down the stairs, humming, and almost missed the figure leaning against the wall.
Almost.
My eyes widened as I looked at my husband, leaning against the wall in a grey t-shirt and green camo sweatpants.
"Jiyong." I whispered, tears filling my eyes. I ran up to him and hugged him as tightly as possible. His arms wrapped around my body and he put his face into the crook of my neck.
"You're home." I cried.
"It's good to be back Jagiya." He whispered. I felt a couple hot tears hit my neck.
"Eomma, who is that?" Eunjae asked. I looked over to see Eunjae and Byungchul standing on the stairs, staring at me and Jiyong. I motioned for them to come to us.
"This is your appa, Jiyong." Jiyong crouched down and cried even harder. Byungchul and Eunjae ran up to him and hugged him.
"This is Byungchul and Eunjae." I told him, crouching down next to them. If possible, Jiyong started crying harder.
"Appa, why are you sad?" Eunjae asked. He smiled through his tears.
"I'm not sad. I'm so, so happy." He said, looking from Eunjae, to Byungchul, and finally landing on me. He slowly got up and hugged me again, this time pulling Byungchul and Eunjae into our hug.
