Hayat's pov :
As I woke up , I called my senior doctor to inform her that I couldn't come to the camp today, as I was not feeling well . She wished me a speedy recovery and disconnected the call . I don't need a recovery coz in the first place there is nothing wrong with me to get recovered from .Today romaisa is turning three . I wanted to make it special , we don't usually put up a big party for birthdays. It will be a small one which imcludes only the four of us (rafan , aaliya , hayat , romaisa ) . Don't laugh at that . We have our own precious family time during such occasions .
As I creeped up to her room , I saw her smiling in her sleep , I don't know what's with these babies , they always smile in their sleep , but behave cringy when they are awake . Maybe they too like their dreams more than reality . I prayed for her smile to not fade away with time and I went to the kitchen .
Aaliya was already there , I greeted her with salam and asked her about rafan ,
She informed that Rafan went to work but he would be home by noon . Being a workaholic , him taking half day leave is an appreciative one .
I decided to bake chocolate cake as it was Romaisa's favourite .
As I was preparing the batter , she came in and started licking the cocoa powder placed in the table . She looked adorable with all the chocolate over her face and nose . She was like a brown little bear . I placed the cake in oven and cleaned the mess she has made in the kitchen . If it was somebody other than her , I would be mad by now , but she was special. She is and will be our little sunshine .
I made her bath , which she usually hates . I think she has inherited this from me 😉. I dressed her in a purple frock which highlighted her brown eyes beautifully . She was looking gorgeous . After dressing up , We went down and waited for rafan's arrival .
As he came with a gift , romaisa ran and hugged him . They were the best father daughter duo I've seen till date . maybe one day I'll see another duo like them in our home , in shaa allah . Rafan went to his room to freshen up and we began to set the cake , balloons and candles in the living room.
I blew out the candles instead of romaisa ,because she continuously failed in her attempts to blew out the candles with her small mouth .
As we all made a wish for her happiness to long last , we all started eating the cake , it was delicious ,
" anything made up of chocolate tastes amazing " , I was thinking while savouring the taste of the cake . Romaisa was covered with chocolate from head to toe , spoiling the dress , but she looked cute . We took a lot of photos , moments like these should be cherished .
" sorry my dear , you have to have a bath again ", I said , lifting her.
After her second bath , we unwrapped her gift . she was screaming "rap, rap " on seeing the barbie inside . She mistook barbie for rapunzel , Tangled was her favourite movie . she made me watch Tangled for atleast ten times when it was released . She was overjoyed on seeing her gift .
But personally I don't appreciate it when people gift barbie for girls and car and bike toys for boys . They fix Pink for girls , blue for boys and cooking is for girls while driving is for boys . Gender discrimination starts right there and ends at " kitchen for girls and outside world is for boys " .
But anyways, seeing her happy made me happy .
