33. The Comeback

Hayat's pov:

I finally returned home after four long days . I went in searching for Aaliyah and Romaisa. I was shocked to see Aaliya crying silently in a corner and there was no sign of Rafan or Romaisa, With all the bad thoughts running in my mind , I went near her , on seeing me she started wailing loudly , she screamed for Rafan to come down, then She touched me, all over my face and abdomen to verify whether I am real or just a dream . She was crying like a baby .

"Hayat, I thought I would never be able to see you again. My dear, we have not lost everyone , atleast now, we have a reason to live. " she spoke hugging me , I felt my cheeks becoming wet due to my own tears . I asked her about Rafan and Romaisa to which she cried silently as if suppressing her wails.
"Aaliyah , can you please tell me where Rafan and Romaisa are? You are scaring me ". I asked holding her shoulder.
"Rafan is upstairs" , she spoke silently, no not spoke , she whispered into the air . As we were engulfed by a fearful silence, I was able to hear her words, accompained with her ragged breathing clearly , without any difficulty.
"Are they sleeping?" I interrogated her again .
" Not "are", it's only "him" " , her trembling lips found it hard to speak.
"Then where is Romaisa?"
" She's no more my dear , they could have taken my life rather than hers. She left us all .She is in heaven now , not anymore in this world .
She has not yet seen the world , but she has closed her eyes forever".

"We couldn't even get her body " , she broke down into tears . It was all too much for me to bear, I was safe all these days even when I was in the streets, but my Romaisa , she is no more .
We both cried hugging each other, it seemed like forever . How would I face Rafan now? He would be partially dead by now . He has lost many dear ones over the time .after my mom's death he took a long time to recover from it and now this , I am scared of the consequences, I'm not ready to lose my brother . I can't lose anymore, actually there's nothing left anymore to lose.

We cried till our tear glands dried , till our eyes hurt , till our cheeks soaked , till everything blurred , we came to our senses when we heard a knock , I was too tired even to stand , it must be people who has come to show us their sympathy , Aaliyah went to attend the door , "Hayat ,Rafan come here , see who has come back to us " came Aaliyah's scream within minutes

Romaisa was standing there with Aaliyah and Hamza, my mind couldn't register Hamza as the joy of seeing Romaisa alive overtook it completely. I hugged and kissed her as if my life depended on it . She was standing still, not able to figure out what is happening around her . Hamza coughed to interrupt us. only then he came to my mind , he was the saviour of Romaisa .he is the one gave back our sunshine, she is our princess.
I ignored him on purpose , when I told him to ask for my hand in marriage to my brother he ignored me and now it's my turn .

I went to call Rafan on Aaliyah's request. He was mourning upstairs.
Rafan came down running , he hugged and cried along with Romaisa . They two were so adorable .Rafan chatted with Hamza, I could tell that Hamza was so tensed by the way he spoke with Rafan.
After a an hour or so , Hamza got off to leave and Rafan went with him till the street's end .
