Two weeks later, December 24th 1990,Veronica had been working non stop since the break up, in a way to forget about her ex but also because she loves her job, even more during the holidays, yes the restaurant is busier but also more festive with the Christmas decorations Veronica and Bailey put up the week before
While Veronica was currently helping the waiting staff and Bailey writing in the office, working on her fourth book of her zombie bride series till she needed a refill on her coffee
She closed her laptop after saving her current version of her chapter and made her way to the front of the restaurant to get some coffee or something else maybe at the bar and check on the staff as well
"I said I wanted a double espresso, this is NOT a double espresso it's a single espresso!" An upset guest complained and threw the hot dark liquid at the nearest waitress who jumped aside to avoid getting burned by the hot liquid
"What the actual-" Bailey gasped, ready to throw out the rude guest but Veronica who saw it happen stepped in and sussed the situation
"You're new to this huh?" The short, caramel skinned bartender asked Bailey
"Rude people? No" Bailey answered "But crazy motherfuckers throwing hot coffee at people, yes" she continued
"Unfortunately that particular 'motherfucker' is a food critic, the meanest of them all, a bad review by him could literary get you out of bussiness and he always does something extreme to test the general manager and or the owner's patience, do they manage to calm him down the restaurant will get a postive review, do they flip and throw him out he'll write the most negative review for your restaurant and make sure the mainstream media will get a copy of it" the bartender explained
"Do people actually read and listen to restaurant reviews? I mean it's personal taste right?" Bailey asked
"The general people check restaurant reviews first before visiting" the bartender answered
"Hmm I guess I'm the only one who doesn't rely on other's opinions, I'd like to make my own" Bailey mentioned and saw Veronica make her way towards them "How did you get him to calm down?" She asked
"His dinner is on us and he'll get a new double espresso" Veronica replied
"The hell, we're paying for the maniac?" Bailey asked
"Welcome to the restaurant business, know the saying customer is king? Well in the restaurant bussiness it is guest is everything, it basically means the same" Veronica explained while she made the requested double espresso and served it
"Why would you voluntarily open a restaurant?" Bailey wondered and ordered a glass of red wine at the bar before she went back to her laptop in the office to work on her chapter again
