Chapter 22

The next morning,

During the night Michael and Veronica had ended up in each other's arms, her head buried in his chest, his arms wrapped around her, her arms wrapped around him, anyone that would walk into the room right now would think they're lovers

The first one to wake up was Veronica, confused for a second of who was holding her but then she remembered she offered Michael the other side of the bed

"Michael" she whispered trying to wake him up, gently

"Veronica" Michael gasped "How did you get in my bed?" He asked

"Well yes technically it is your bed but this is the guestroom" Veronica answered

"Oh yeah... I remember you offered the other side of the bed" Michael reminded himself

"But obviously we both wanted the middle of the bed" Veronica mentioned 

"Yeah....I guess it's an automatism, is that a word? To hold the pretty lady sleeping next to me" Michael replied and smiled at her

"Yea it's a word I think...wait you really think I'm pretty? It's the second time you mentioned it" Veronica told him

"Yeah...I mean...You're not just beauty you've brains too" Michael mentioned, still holding her close and looked intensly at her "But you know you're my employee and it's against my own policy to-" he continued but was interuppted by Veronica who kissed him

"Oh my god, sorry, I didn't mean to-" Veronica gasped once realized what she did when he kissed her back "I've never kissed my boss before, I'm not that kind of-" she rambled

"Shh" Michael replied placing his finger on her lips "Your former boss was your family, of course you didn't kiss them" he continued

"But now you'll think I'm some crazy person who kissed her boss" Veronica replied looking down

"No....actually...I kind of wanted to kiss you too...for a while now" Michael admitted 

"But you don't trust blondes and you have a rule you won't date your employees" veronica reminded him

"Aren't rules meant to be broken? And maybe it's kind of selfish to judge all blondes for a few mean ones?" Michael mentioned and kissed Veronica this time

"But....we...I...won't it affect our work relationship, this um...what is it actually? Just physical attraction or more?" Veronica wondered 

"I.....Do you want it to be more or not?" Michael asked her, wondering the same thing

"There's more than just physical attraction, right?" Veronica asked

"Yes, I mean you're smart, caring, you know making me eat sometimes even when I don't really want to, you're great company, I kind of have a crush on you for some time now" Michael told her

"Yeah...you called me beautiful twice and pretty just now" Veronica smiled

"You are" Michael smiled at her

"If you say s-" Veronica began when she noticed the time on the digital clock on the beside table that read 11:30 "That's not right is it?" She gasped

"What is not right?" Michael asked a little confused 

"Lunch hour starts in thirty minutes and I took over two shifts" Veronica answered and quickly rushed out of the bed to get ready for work at the restaurant
