"Come on, you need to come," teased Ann, her long black hair flying around.
"Seriously, I have stuff to do, I really need to get home now," Alice mumbled, standing in the middle of the hallway with an expression she wanted to be of pure defeat.
Of course, the girl didn't have anything to do at home, she just wanted to get rid of her new friend.
It had now been three months since Alice had moved to Seoul; three months since the troublesome Sunday that got her in a plane to fly around the globe. Since then, a lot had changed. Herself and Megan had managed to register to a new University, right in the middle of the city and Alice was now majoring in Chemistry while Megan got accepted in the Dietetics program.
Classes had just started, but already Alice's workload was impressive and after a rough day trying to cram her brain with information, her ideal Friday evening was with Megan watching movies while eating ramen.
For the first week, she had successfully avoided the after-class social life, but this time, her new friend Ann was determined to make her come to whatever gathering was going on that night.
The argument didn't last long. Ann was very determined, and Alice didn't have a good reason to miss the event, so the girl was dragged to the University bar across the street against her will, soon finding herself squeezed between people she didn't know in a very crowded place.
How fun.
The University bar, like most College watering holes, smelled like beer, wood, old leather, and cigarettes. Green reading lamps were lighting the space and the tables were almost as stained as the floors. The walls were tagged with the names of the different University programs and televisions on the sport channel were attached to the ceiling.
"Everyone, this is my friend Alice," announced Ann to the five or six people sitting at the end of the table.
"Nice to meet you Alice, I'm Jungkook," the guy sitting next to her greeted with a friendly smile.
And what a smile, she thought.
He was tall and seemed muscular underneath his shirt. His tousled black hair was falling in his big dark eyes and he had a cute nose. His thin lips curled in a bunny grin and Alice couldn't do anything else but grin back at him, maybe a little more awkwardly than what she would have wanted.
"Nice to meet you too."
They were interrupted by Ann, loudly sitting in front of them, one glass of sangria in each hand.
"I'm so pissed!" she revealed, "Jisoo was supposed to be here tonight, but she bailed again to go pre-drink with the rest of the boys, this is a bar, there is no pre-drink! You should only do that if you're going at the club where the alcohol is more expensive."
"Ann, it's because you only club in the rich places that the drinks are so expensive! Just come with me and Jimin next time, we will show you where the affordable places are," immediately answered Jungkook with a witty smile.
Ann answered that she didn't want to go to Jimin's trashy places, and the conversation continued to flow for a while. Other people started to join. Alice didn't talk much, but she did feel included in the conversation and she became less and less self-conscious while her glass of cider got more and more empty.
An hour passed. Alice wasn't really following the exchange anymore and was more focused on her fries, which were disappointedly soggy.
Ann, as fierce as ever, was clearly leading the conversation. Her fiery eyes were fixed on the person talking, a boy with blue hair, while her long fingers were playing with her empty sangria glass.
