57| Liquid gold

Yoongi and Alice were slowly walking back to the cabin. Neither of them knew how much time they had spent lying down in the snow with their eyes towards the sky. Probably for a long time, because both of them were no longer drunk and the weather had completely changed. Heavy clouds were now covering the starry vault and small snowflakes were gently falling down, dancing in the wind and getting caught in Alice's hair.

Yoongi's hand hadn't quit the girl's palm. Fingers intertwined, they slowly walked up the steps to the cabin. Yoongi opened the door, allowing Alice in before he followed her.

The inside was very dark and silent. However, the dying fire was lighting the room enough for both of them to see from the entrance that the residents of the cottage were all passed out together in the living room. Jin and Namjoon were both on the couch, Jin's head against Namjoon's shoulder. Jimin was on the floor, still bare chested, holding a bottle of rum in his arms like it was a baby. Jungkook was sound asleep on the other couch, his head buried under a pillow. Finally Hoseok was snoring in the rocking chair in front of the fireplace, his tanned face bathed in the red light of the burning coals.

Taehyung and Megan were missing.

Silently, trying not to wake anyone, Alice and Yoongi removed their boots and their coats. After that, Yoongi hastily grabbed Alice's hand again, leading her to the second floor.

A knot of excitement was forming in the girl's belly as she closely followed Yoongi upstairs, her hand not leaving his.

It had always been Yoongi. From the instant she had met the boy, something about him had caught her attention. Her initial infatuation had always stayed behind, lingering at the edges of her thoughts, undetectable but still there, ready to strike as soon as her guard would be down. He had proven himself worthy of her desires time and time again, defending her even when he didn't truly know who she was and opening up about his past in a way that was making her feel breathless. Yoongi was the eye of the storm, solid and strong against adversity but also had a soft side that made Alice melt, a kind of vulnerability that made his heart tender. The darkness he carried was also Alice's burden and together, all of it felt a little lighter.

The sudden realization that her life might come to an end sooner than expected had filled Alice with a new kind of urgency. She didn't want to be cautious and refrain her feelings anymore. She wanted to feel alive and savor every bit of her existence as much as she could.

This meant she had every intention of getting Yoongi naked as soon as they would be alone.

Of course, the boy, reading her feelings, was very aware of this fact. It was the reason why he was rushing up the stairs, eager to be alone with her.

The tension between them was extreme.

To Alice's surprise, Yoongi stopped in the middle of the second-floor corridor. Stretching his arm to the ceiling, he grabbed a heavy handle that Alice hadn't noticed and pulled, revealing a ceiling trap door. The boy unfolded a wooden ladder and started to climb. Alice followed him, curious to see what was up there.

Yoongi disappeared in the darkness of the attic and turned on the lights before offering his hand to the girl and helping her up. She blinked a few times, blinded by the sudden brightness, then finally pulled her body in the room.

Her gaze wandered across the attic, stopping on the small round window to look at the dancing snowflakes outside. The sloped ceiling only allowed her to stand in the middle of the room. Beside a mattress, directly on the floor and a few cardboard boxes, the space was rather empty. 

Yoongi, crouching on the floor, folded back the ladder and closed the trap door. Alice's heart started to beat faster and she bit the corner of her lower lip as the boy stood up to face her.
