11| Neon blue

"Wanna come with me?" Asked Megan.

She was in the middle of the living room, wearing a very small nurse costume.

"To feel really awkward in the middle of your dietetics friends... no thank you."

Halloween was still 4 days away, but because it was falling on a Wednesday, all the Halloween parties were the weekend before.

Megan gazed at Alice with a concerned look, brows furrowed and lips pouting.

"I know that Ann and Jisoo used to be the friends taking you to bars and stuff... now that you're not seeing them anymore, I don't want you to just stay confined in here either."

"I'm fine, I swear," said Alice, "I'm just going to stay in with some tea and a good book... my usual weekend night."

She forced a smile and Megan didn't seem convinced at all.

"I have an extra costume if you want..."

Alice rolled her eyes.

"Sexy zombie? Sexy astronaut?"

Megan smiled mischievously.

"Sexy witch!"

Alice's chuckle got interrupted by the doorbell.

"Well, that's my ride," chimed Megan, and she grabbed her keys and purse before heading out.

"Have fun!" yelled Alice at her friend before she closed the door behind her, hearing her high heels quickly squeak down the stairs.

Alice, now alone again, put down the random book she had picked from her library and looked out the window at October Seoul, gazing at the orange, yellow, and carmine hues of the tree leaves gently swaying in the night breeze.

She walked to the sofa and caught a glimpse of her reflection in the bathroom mirror.

Sad baggy clothes, sad face, sad hair, she thought.

Tonight, she didn't feel like staying in. It was Halloween after all, and it had been such a long time since she had gone out to dance. She didn't want to go with Megan because she didn't want to intrude her little circle, but that didn't mean she had to stay confined on her sofa and do nothing, right?

Alice decidedly walked in her bedroom and opened her closet, eyeing her clothes critically. She did have some sexy outfits but was always a little afraid to wear them. However, Halloween seemed like a good-enough occasion to try something bolder than her usual sweaters and jeans. She quickly grabbed a leather skirt and a sleeveless, high-necked tank top, putting them on before she would change her mind.

She applied some lipstick, managed to flick her eyeliner into fairly similar wings on both eyelids and added some Doc Martens boots to complete the look. Finally, she flattened out her wavy hair and grabbed her jacket.

Now looking in the mirror, she was satisfied with the final result. The all-black look always suited her, putting her slim figure and blue eyes forward.

She grabbed her keys and her purse before locking up behind her. The night was clear, and the air was fresh, just a little bit chilly. The moon was a big silver shining crescent directly above her head.

Alice knew the perfect place to go. There was a club, only some minutes away from her apartment, and she had always wondered what it looked like inside. This was the perfect night to find out. The girl briskly walked there, excited to reach the dancefloor.

Finally, she arrived at the club. The neon blue sign was glowing invitingly above the door and the music was loud, even from outside. There was a long line in front of the entrance, but the bouncer noticed she was alone and let her in before everyone else.
