The police station was a plain concrete building and the inside was as bland as the outside.
There was a main desk at the entrance and behind it, a middle-aged lady was on the phone. In the background, police officers were sitting at desks or talking to each other. The whole place looked very busy and many people were sitting on blue plastic chairs in a waiting area, expecting to see an officer soon.
Everywhere, phones were ringing, people were calling each other out, and printers were coughing out papers in an organized cacophony.
Taehyung looked at Megan sideways and turned his eyes to the right, showing her the corner of the ceiling, where multiple cameras were watching everything going on around.
Right, the cameras.
In a blink, Megan cut the currant. Taehyung saw the little red light underneath the cameras go black and he nodded at the girl, a smirk stretching his lips. He then proceeded to approach the lady on the phone at the main desk. One look at Taehyung and her eyes went blank.
"Hello? Hello? Helen?" said the person at the other end of the line, while the receptionist was ogling Taehyung with a troubled expression.
"Listen, Helen," whispered Taehyung with his deep voice, "can you tell me where the computer room is?"
Megan felt a shiver down her spine when she heard his smoky tone, dripping like honey and bone-chilling.
"Third floor, room 318," the lady responded in a robotic tone.
"Thanks a lot," said Taehyung. "Now you are going to forget everything about this conversation."
Helen nodded, already picking back her phone.
"Sorry, the line cut," she said to the person at the other end, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Megan looked around the station. To get to the third floor, they needed to take either the stairs or the elevator, but only policemen could access both those areas. The elevator was in plain sight, in the middle of the room, while the stairway door was hidden in a corner and seemed rather forgotten.
"Can you open it?" Taehyung whispered.
They needed a special card to open the door, which only the policemen had, but Megan nodded confidently. She had done this before. She simply needed to put her hand on the magnetic lock and let her powers do the rest. The electricity coursing through her body always found a way to accomplish what she wanted.
"Wait we need a distraction, or they will see us," the girl whispered.
Turning her head towards the main desk, she focused on one of the ugly beige lamps at the receptionist's workstation. The lightbulb exploded with a bang and Helen screamed, dropping her phone.
The whole room froze to look at what was going on, and Megan and Taehyung used the distraction to quickly open the door and disappear in the staircase, running up to the third level as fast as they could. When they finally arrived, Megan's cheeks were flushed from the exercise. Peeking his head out the door, Taehyung made a sign to the girl, gesturing that the path was clear.
The two of them briskly walked into the deserted hallway, looking for the room 318. Luckily, all the doors were numbered, which made it easier for them to find it.
"Room 310... 314... there 318," said Megan, leading the way.
She simply put her hand on the magnetic lock and the door opened. Immediately, 6 pairs of eyes peeked at her over large computer screens.
"Oh shit," she plainly said.
The girl didn't take into consideration that there would be people in the room, and she was ready to turn around and run away, but Taehyung snapped his fingers and they instantly froze... except for one.
