When Alice arrived at the park, Jungkook was already there, waiting. He was seated on one of the swings, slowly moving back and forth while looking at the sky. Even from further away, the girl could see the stars reflect in his eyes.
She sat at his side and followed the boy's gaze, peering at the heavens as well. It was so dark and impenetrable, thick ink swallowing the light of the tiny shining stars scattered on this ocean of darkness.
"I have an idea, and I would like to try it out, but only if you want to," started Jungkook.
His voice was hoarse and low, like he didn't want to disrupt the stillness of the night.
"What is it?"
He took his time to answer, like he still wasn't sure it was a good suggestion.
"You know that my power is strength, right?"
"Yes..."
"And you can channel this power and use it to be as strong as me," the boy continued.
"Yes, theoretically."
"I was wondering if you might want to conduct an experiment," the boy revealed, "I would like to know if, by using my powers, you would be as fast as me."
Incapable of keeping a straight face anymore, he turned to her and let out a giggle, smiling brightly at her, eyes sparkly.
"You're an idiot," declared Alice, but she couldn't refrain a smile as she shook her head.
"So are you in?" challenged the boy.
"It's not safe," argued Alice, "what if someone sees us?"
"They will think that they are crazy or drunk and forget about it," the boy smirked, repeating Alice's former thought on the subject.
She couldn't really argue with that.
"Admit that it sounds pretty fun!" he added.
The girl didn't need much convincing. She was always down for a challenge. That's why she stood up, determined to make a good competitor.
"Fine, let's do this! But we probably should go somewhere else," she asserted.
They were still in the middle of the city and even this late, passersby were common.
"We could go to the Namsam botanical garden?" suggested Jungkook.
Alice shivered at the idea. The last time she had been there, a spirit had almost strangled her to death.
"Nah, this place is full of ghosts."
Jungkook's eyes doubled in size as he glared at her, lips parted in astonishment, and Alice chuckled, thinking that this stunned face of his was never not going to make her laugh.
"I know a place where we could go!" conveyed the girl, "Come on, follow me!"
Alice started with a slow jog, leaving the park behind to get to the main street. Jungkook followed her, orange Nike shoes hitting the pavement in sync.
"So, what program are you in now?" the boy suddenly asked.
"Microbiology."
"And do you like it?"
"Yes, the teachers are nice."
Alice wasn't usually a fan of small talk, but Jungkook was determined. That's how she ended up going into detail about her favorite classes and what she was studying at the moment. After a few minutes, however, the girl started to get out of breath talking and running at the same time, so she tried to make him talk instead.
