"Why do you have that look on your face?" I snapped out from my train of thoughts when I felt mom's hand on my arm. I looked at her and saw a faint of worry in her expression. I knew she knew that there was something bothering me; she's my mother after all.
We were currently on our way to work, and I've been looking out the window the whole duration of the car ride. I haven't noticed that my jaw was slightly clenched, my fingers fidgeting, my foot constantly tapping on the floor. I was bothered; worried in fact.
I looked at my mom and forced out a smile. But there was no use trying to deny it from her, she can always see through me. I let out the sigh I've been keeping in for so long and and faced her.
"I'm just worried. I haven't heard from Yaya the whole day." I mean, there were days that we totally don't get to contact each other, but today is just different. I feel something weird at the pit of my stomach. Something was definitely wrong and I just can't put my finger on it.
"I'm sure everything's fine. She's probably just resting. You know she had a rough day yesterday." That's another thing making me worried.
Mae Pla called me up yesterday telling me that Yaya almost passed out in the middle of filming. She said she was fine when I called to check up on her, said it was just the lack of sleep and the intense heat. But you can't blame me for getting worried over her. Prior to that, she fell off the stairs and got three stitches, and a few days after that her wound got infected. A lot has been happening to her and as much as I want to rush to her every time, I just can't. We were both preoccupied with work.
Not seeing her makes me even more worried, it's hard not seeing with my own eyes that she's fine.
"She's probably just sleeping , Barry." Mom reassured me once again and I nodded my head. I'm probably just overreacting , right?
When we got to the set, I immediately just went straight to the area where I'm supposed to be. I'm still feeling all fidgety, but I just have to shake it all off since I have to be focused with work.
This is going to be a rough filming day, I'm sure.
After a few scenes, I was given a few minutes of break while they prepare the set for the next scene. I went to my area and saw that my phone was flashing. I dashed to get it when I saw the caller ID on the screen, finally feeling relief in my system.
"Hey, I haven't heard from you all day. How are you?" I say almost out breath. My heart was beating fast as I waited for her answer and I don't know if it was from excitement or from something else.
"Hey, uhm." She started. "I'm gonna tell you something, but you have to promise you won't freak out." I furrowed my brows in confusion. "What? What is it, Ya?" I asked, suddenly feeling worried again.
"P'Bear! Promise me first." She insists and I nod my head even though she can't see it. "Okay, okay. I promise. Now tell me, you're making me worried." My heart was banging on my chest even faster as I waited for her response.
"Okay, don't panic. I'm in the ICU." She said it so casually thag I didn't know if I should believe it. I felt my heart slow down until it almost came to a stop. "Are you joking me? It's not a funny joke, Ya." I say, trying to convince myself that she was messing with me.
