*Sawyer's POV*
"Head down a little more!" the photographer yelled from behind his camera.
I tilted my chin down a little more, as the photographer had requested. The lights were so bright on the shoot that I had no clue where he was shouting commands from, I just knew that I should follow them. Being blinded by the intense lights and flashing had begun to become my new normal. Show up, hair, makeup, wardrobe, shoot, and repeat. It was all overwhelming at times. I didn't know how Kane coped so easily with all of this, or at least he made it look easy.
The photographer called for a break and for the stage hands to begin tearing down the set we were working on and to begin putting up the next one. Until then, I had at least an hour to break, and I needed it. My head was spinning and my eyes hurt from the bright lights. Emmeryse came running up to me as I walked off the set and over to hair and makeup where I could sit down for a minute. I plastered on a smile as she hugged me and told me how great I had looked.
Emmeryse was the niece of Kane's publicist, and we had become fast friends shortly after I started coming to Kane's concerts, public outings, and all the other events his team scheduled for him. It was nice to have someone around my age that I could spend time with. Hair and makeup artists tended to only want gossip and they always asked the same questions. 'When's the wedding?', 'Do you have a child on the way?', 'Is it true that....'. The last one almost always included some outlandish statement that the media or some gossip channel has spread. They were almost always a lie.
As Emmeryse bounded off to the wardrobe department, probably to scout out my next outfit, I took a deep breath and let my shoulders slack. I wish I had her enthusiasm. This packed schedule wasn't exactly my thing. But Kane's team had set me up with a few modeling gigs and things just took off from there. Only problem is, I had been so packed lately that half the time I couldn't remember what product I was helping sell or what magazine I was posing for. It was all a whirlwind. I wanted nothing more than to slip on a pair of ripped jean, my boots, and a t-shirt and drive down some backroads with Kane, like we had done in Georgia. But I was a long way's from Georgia.
We were in Chicago at this time. Kane had an interview on tv in the morning and then a radio interview in the afternoon. After that, he'd be getting ready to go on stage for this stop on his tour. I had been feeling overwhelmed but had been telling Kane not to worry about it and brushed it off as having not slept well. I decided that I'd pull out my phone and see if he had texted me at all before his interview. It was just after noon so he might've been out, but he'd be on his way to his next interview.
*Kane's POV*
I took the stairs two at a time, being careful with the bag of food I was carrying. I opened the door and walked through, trying to be as quiet as I could. They had just finished up and there was Sawyer, looking at her phone with her back to me. I tiptoed my way across the floor and set the bag on the floor carefully. I wrapped my arms around her waist and rested my head on her shoulder. She jumped in surprise before leaning back against me, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath.
"I was just about to text you and see how the interview went." Sawyer smiled
"It was alright. Had to cut it short because they were running late." I said and kissed her cheek.
"I bet your manager just loved that." Sawyer laughed shortly
I smiled and grabbed her and, spinning her around in my arms so she was facing me. Even in the ridiculous heels that wardrobe had put her in, she was still shorter than me. She gave me a big grin as she wrapped her arms around me. I leaned in and gave her a quick peck on the lips, making her laugh and the makeup artist yell something about smudging Sawyer's makeup. I thought she looked beautiful without it, but they always seemed to insist that she wear a full face for these shoots.
