*Kane's POV*

We had been moved to the private suite in the maternity ward that I had requested. So much had happened since my daughter was born. A nurse was working on putting a hospital wristband on my arm. It had her name on it. Sawyer had one as well and there was one around our daughter's wrist and one around her ankle.

I looked up to see Sawyer peacefully propped up with her eyes closed, your daughter laid against her chest, tucked under her mother's chin. Sawyer gently ran her hand over her back as she made little noises. Opening her eyes, Sawyer looked at me and smiled. I bit my lip as I looked at them.

"Wanna hold her?" Sawyer smiled

My stomach dropped, "Me?" I said nervously as thoughts of accidentally dropping her ran through my head and I paled.

"Come here." Sawyer reached her hand out.

I looked up at the nurse who had finished putting my band on me. She nodded before leaving, and I stood, walking over to Sawyer. She moved over in bed, making room for me to sit. I carefully sat down, facing Sawyer, propping one leg up partially on the bed. She put her hand behind our daughter's head and leaned her back, carefully handing her to me.

"You gotta support her neck and head. An' other hand like this." Sawyer instructed

"She's so tiny." I whispered, smiling.

She was tiny compared to someone my size. I could support both her neck and head with one hand. She was barely the size of my forearm. Her little arms flung around and twitched as she made little noises. She had a cute little squished nose and her lips were pursed. I rubbed my thumb over her little cheek, causing more little grunts and coos from her as she tried turning her head towards my thumb. Her little eyes briefly opened an' my chest tightened as I looked at her, feeling my heart melt. This is my daughter.

*Sawyer's POV*

I watched as Kane held our daughter. It melted my heart the way he looked at her, smiling. Reaching for my phone, I took several pictures, wanting to save this moment. She opened her for the third time since she was born, looking up at him. He carefully leaned forward, placing a light kiss on her head. He was absolutely in love with her and I smiled at the two of them.

After feeding her and Kane learning how to change a diaper, we let our family know that they could come visit. Kane's mother was the first to arrive. Tabatha was overjoyed and Kane couldn't help expressing his excitement as he pointed out her ten little fingers and toes. She sat in one of the chairs holding her with Kane seated next to her. Wherever our daughter went, Kane seemed to follow like a little puppy.

"She's beautiful." Tabatha said

"She looks a lot like Kane." I laughed as Kane disagreed.

"She does. Don't argue with your wife." Tabatha smacked Kane's shoulder lightly. "She's got mother's eyes though." she smiled

"I think she's perfect." Kane said, eyes zoned in on our daughter's face.

My dad entered the room quietly. He came over, hugging me as I sat in bed. His eyes instantly went to his new granddaughter as he heard her fussing. Kane, carefully took her from his mother, standing slowly. Standing on opposite sides of the bed, Kane smiled at my dad.

"Do you wanna hold her?" Kane smiled

"Oh. I dunno. She seems kinda fussy right now." Dad started

"She's alright." I said

Looking unsure, he sat down in the padded arm chair just behind him. Kane walked around the bed, gently handing her off to my father and sat back on the end of the hospital bed, smiling at me. He cradled her in the crook of his arm, pulling on her little pink hat to straighten it out. She continued her little flails with her arms and legs. He looked at her and a low rumbling laugh left his chest as he looked up at us, smiling.

"Got a name for the little squirt?" Dad asked, looking down at her.

"Kasey." I smiled

"Kasey Emery Rae Brown." Kane said

*Kane's POV*

Sawyer's father sat still for a minute as he processed his granddaughter's name. He looked up at me, swallowing back as he had tears in his eyes. He looked between Sawyer and I. He cleared his throat, trying to steady his voice.

"Kasey like Luke Casey boots which are mentioned in one of Kane's songs." Sawyer explained.

"Sawyer picked Emery 'cause Emery Creek Trail is where our whole relationship started. Without goin' out there, we would've never gotten together." I said.

"Who picked Rae?" Sawyer's dad asked, with a crack in his voice.

"Kane did." Sawyer said

Her father's eyes were on me. The room was silent other than the noises drifting in from the hallway and nurse's station. He swallowed harder now, looking down at his granddaughter squirming in his arms. Her little hand coming up to accidentally bump against his chin. His eyes came back up, looking at me again. They were filled with confusion and tears as he seemed pulled back from a memory.

"Why?" He asked, closer to tears than I had ever seen but eyes trained on mine.

"In memory of your wife." I said, looking back at him.

He stood, carefully passing Kasey back to Sawyer. He turned to me and I stood. The tears in his eyes said it all as my father-in-law pulled me into a hug. Wrapping my arms around him, I hugged him back, knowing how much his wife, RaeLynn, had meant to him and how much her passing had hurt. Sawyer looked like she was about to cry herself, remembering her mom. I had been adamant about about including her mother's name from the moment we found out that we were having a girl. He pulled back and went to dry his eyes as I realized just how much he had loved his wife.

I stood there, looking at my beautiful wife holding our daughter who was just hours old. My heart pounded in my chest as I looked at Sawyer, thinking back to the first time I saw her, boots hanging out the passenger window of her green truck, steam pouring out from under the hood. She was my better half an' together we were a perfect storm. She was the thunder that always broke through the rain when I needed her most. An' she'd just topped any gift I could ever give her. I looked at my little daughter, feeling overwhelmingly protective of her. The smile tugged at my lips as her name ran through my head and my heart felt like her name was being tucked away inside. I reached out, running the back of my finger over her cheek gently.

Kasey Emery Rae Brown.

I hope you've enjoyed reading! Maybe even had a few tears.

To finish up this book, I want to hear what you, the readers, might want to see as far as Kane and Sawyer being new parents. Do you want to see them coming home? See them at a concert? An interview maybe?
