*Kane's POV*

I reeled in my line, getting frustrated as I pulled more sopping wet leaves and grass off of my hook. I crouched down, figuring maybe a different lure would help. Out of the silence came a shriek and crying. I dropped my pole, turning and running over to where Reagan was backing up away from the creek, tears streaming down his face.

I crouching down in front of my nearly four year old son, I looked at him trying to figure out what was wrong. He wrapped his little arms tightly around my neck as he pointed towards the ground by the creek. I looked where he was pointing, trying to understand. Then I saw it, a little turtle. I let out a little laugh, wrapping an arm around Reagan's little shoulders.

Standing, I moved towards the turtle, Reagan pulling on my pant leg to get me away from it, and bent down to pick it up. Sawyer had come running down from the back porch of her dad's house. Six year old Kasey was trailing behind her. They reached us as I stood up, turning with the turtle in my hand. Reagan has gone to hide behind his mother, peering at me from behind the safety of Sawyer's legs.

"What happened?" Sawyer asked, out of breath.

"Reagan found a turtle." I said, holding it up.

"Oh! Baby, did you find a turtle?" Sawyer asked but he continued to hide.

"Can I see?" Kasey asked, trying to pull my arm down.

"You can see but don't touch him." Sawyer said

"Be careful. I don't want him biting you." I said

I crouched down again, holding the turtle between my index finger and thumb. Kasey looked at him, holding onto my arm and stretching her neck to look closer. She bit her lip, just like her Mama, before smiling up at me, showing me a grin with a hole in it from where she had lost her first tooth the other night. Her little brother craned his neck, not brave enough to get closer but still wanting to see the turtle.

"Alright. Now let Dad put him back." Sawyer said

"Did you wanna see, Reagan?" I asked, looking at him but setting a strong head shaking.

"How 'bout we head up to the house to say 'bye' to Grandpa?" Sawyer said

"Can we have peaches?" Reagan asked quietly.

"If you head up right now you can ask if you can have a piece of Grandpa's peach cobbler." Sawyer said

I had put the turtle back and gone to pack up my tackle box and pole. As the kids took off up to the house, Sawyer and I followed, walking up the back hill slowly. I took her hand in mine, pulling it up to my lips to kiss the back of it. She smiled that beautiful smile at me, the same one I fell in love with seven years ago and married six years ago.

I had remained a name in the country music industry, a very popular name. I had seen several country duos and single acts come up with great songs only to have their careers dip off after the first year. I was one of the lucky ones who had been able to continue making music that my fans enjoyed. I felt honored as I was referred to in the same way as I had referred to my musical inspiration and heroes when I had been starting out.

Sawyer's modeling career had given her the platform for both of us to talk about bullying, the truth behind body image in the media, and help out groups like The Boys and Girls Club. She modeled here-and-there but had her hands full with our two kids.

I smiled as I stopped walking, pulling her back to me. Sawyer let a giggle escape her lips as I pulled her close, wrapping my arm around her waist. Her gorgeous, bright green eyes stared into mine as I took in how she looked.

"What?" She asked, biting her lip to hide her smile.

"I love you, Sawyer." I said, watching the blush cross her cheeks.

"I love you too, Kane." She smiled wide, "Even if you are cliche."

I rolled my eyes as she laughed, her head tilting back how it always did. I watched, always finding her little mannerisms fascinating. Shaking my head, I pulled her in for a kiss, feeling her push up onto the tips of her toes in an attempt to make up for the height difference. Hearing the kids and Sawyer's dad through the kitchen window, I pulled back.

"Peach cobbler does sound good." Sawyer bit her lip, debating it.

Laughing, I leaned over, whispering in her ear, "Of course it does, you're eating for two again."

I gently placed my hand over her little bump. Nearly five months and she was barely showing. We hadn't told Kasey or Reagan yet. We hadn't even told Emmeryse yet seeing as how she and her husband were still settling into their new apartment in New York and were due for their first kid sometime next month. Sawyer shushed me while laughing. She took my hand as we walked up to the house, calling out for her dad to dish up a slice for her.

The conversation about plans for the upcoming harvest lulled as Sawyer finished her third slice of peach cobbler. Her father put the papers we had been looking at, down and took his glasses off his face, looking at Sawyer.

"You know, last time two times you've gone for seconds and thirds on peach cobbler, it's always followed with me findin' out you're expecting." He smirked.

He sat back in his chair, looking between the two of us. I nervously looked at Sawyer who decided to pop the bite she had on her fork into her mouth, leaving me the one her father turned to. I looked down, hanging my head while fixing my hat, firmly on my head and letting out a heavy sigh. Pulling my head up, I looked at my father-in-law, as agile as ever.

"Should I start runnin' now?" I asked
