*Kane's POV*

I couldn't get off the plane fast enough. I swung down my luggage from the overhead bin and ran off the plane. Ignoring all the security measures that we would normally take when I landed, I ran through the airport, trying not to run into anyone. Everyone was getting out of my way or yelling at me to watch where I was going. Guess it would be alarming to see a guy of my stature and build sprinting through the airport with a security team calling for me to slow down and wait. Wasn't my fault they couldn't keep up. I had somewhere to be.

I stepped outside the doors to be flooded with camera flashes and jumped into the silver SUV that was waiting for me. I slammed the door shut and we took off.

"C'mon!" I gritted my teeth as we were suck in traffic.

We were stuck in the dinner and theater rush hour traffic. This kinda stuff never happened in Georgia. We didn't have bumper to bumper traffic like this and definitely knew how to drive. Couldn't say that about the people trying to weave in and out of the lanes of traffic, only stalling us longer. My phone was dead so I had no way of knowing how Sawyer was until I got there.

Emmyrse is with her. I tried reminding myself but my frustration and concern was stronger and I knew I wouldn't and couldn't calm down until I saw her for myself.

"I should've never left!" I groaned as I threw my phone. It bounced off the dashboard and landed somewhere on the floorboard.

"You had to tour." My driver replied as I ran a frustrated hand through my hair.

"Yeah but I knew somethin' was wrong! An' I left anyway!" I replied.

"Well I'm sure she's getting the best treatment in the city after all, she is your girlfriend and her career has taken off." He replied to me but I wasn't listening as he continued to speak.

I didn't care about the hospital bill or even how mad my manager was gonna be for running past security. I didn't care about the shots that the paparazzi got. I needed to be with Sawyer. My chest was tightening up and I gritted my teeth and shut my eyes. Calm down. You can't panic here. Sawyer needs you. I breathed slowly, trying to calm my nerves and frustration before I spiraled out of control.

*Sawyer's POV*

I jolted when I heard the door slam. I lifted my head, still foggy from dozing off, and looked around. I was still in the guest room, laying under a blanket that I figured Emmeryse had put over me whenever I dozed off. I was cuddling one of the pillows on the bed, a little wet spot on it. I crinkled my nose up and wiped at my mouth.

"Where's she at?" Kane's voice boomed

I froze where I was laying. I debated going out but decided against it as I didn't know if he knew about my injured foot or that I was on crutches. I laid waiting to hear the conversation that was about to ensue.

"Sawyer needs to rest." My manager's voice sounded stern.

"What happened?" Kane sounded angry. "You're her manager, you're supposed to keep tabs on her at all times. What happened?"

"She had a fall and sprained her ankle." Emmeryse answered for my manager, who I was guessing had shrunk back.

"Well at least you were with her!" Kane sighed heavily in frustration, "But you're supposed to be the one lookin' out for her."

"How was I supposed to know she was going to have a breakdown!" My manager raised her voice

"Breakdown?" Kane sounded taken-back.

I squeezed my eyes shut and felt like I was going to hyperventilate again. He was going to find out eventually. I braced myself for what I thought was going to come next. I had really thought that I could do it all myself and take on everything, but I was still just the girl from Georgia that didn't belong in and couldn't handle the spotlight like the great Kane Brown.

"She's just homesick!" Emmeryse yelled and I breathed. She was my life saver, but she wasn't wrong.

I missed Georgia. I missed flying down the backroads, wearing my boots and a pair of jeans. I missed the hiking trails of Emery Creek and the farm. If I closed my eyes, I could almost see the fields, golden and ready for picking. I missed the way the breeze danced through it and the tall grass. I could almost feel the breeze on my face, but when I opened my eyes, it was only the ceiling fan.

"Homesick?" My manager sounded confused

"Yeah. She misses her dad and mom and she was missing you." Emmeryse said, "But can we keep it down? She's sleeping right now."

It was quiet for a while. There was some more hushed talking that I couldn't quiet make out. I, finally, could hear my manager arguing and mentioning my schedule. Kane's voice came from right outside the guest room door.

"Cancel it. She's not going." Kane said sternly.

I closed my eyes as the door cracked opened. My manager was huffing and telling Kane he couldn't tell her what to do. He shushed her, and the door swung open. He carefully and quietly closed it and tiptoed over to the bed, sitting down before swinging his legs up and laying down.

*Kane's POV*

I rolled onto my side, facing Sawyer. Her eyes were closed but she didn't look like she was sleeping as peacefully as she normally did. I reached out and gently rubbed her cheek with the backs of my fingers. She let out a breath and relaxed, a small smile forming on her lips. Tucking some of her hair behind her ear, my shoulder's relaxed and a smile tugged at the corners of my mouth. Her eyes opened and she peeked at me through her lashes.

"Hey..." I whispered, continuing to stroke her cheek.

"Hi." Sawyer whispered back

"How're you feelin'?" I asked, wanting to help however I could.

Sawyer shrugged and looked up at me. She tried smiling, but I could see it didn't reach her eyes. Instead, they were full of worry. I lifted her chin and leaned down, kissing her gently. I pulled back and pressed my forehead against hers, letting out noses brush against one another's. Her eyes stayed closed. The room was silent other than the overhead fan making it's usual whirling noise as it cut through the air.

"What do you say to visiting Georgia for a few days?" I asked her, barely above a whisper

Her eyes shot open, "What?"

"Yeah. We can visit the market an' go see your dad, maybe even stay with him while we're there." I smiled as I saw her grin stretch across her lips and a laugh escaped between them.

"But when?" She asked

"We can leave tomorrow morning." I smiled

She rolled over onto her back and looked at the clock. It was around eight at night. She rolled back over to face me.

"But what about the premiere I'm supposed to go to?" Sawyer started, "And my other appointments."

"Shhh..." I lifted her chin, making her look me in the eyes, "I told your manager to cancel. Besides, I could use a break from the traffic."

Sawyer's head leaned back as she laughed. My worry and stress melted away hearing her laugh. But it came flooding back when I saw the crutches leaned against the wall. I sat up and moved to the end of the bed. Sawyer looked at me as I looked over her ankle. It was wrapped up but still looked larger than her other ankle.

I went to the kitchen and grabbed a bag of sweetcorn from the freezer. I took it back to the room and placed it on Sawyer's ankle, careful not to hurt her.

"What? No Peas?" Sawyer asked

"Never really was one for my vegetables, but if you really want some I can cookup the sweetcorn once it's unthawed." I smirked

"No thank you!" Sawyer laughed again.
