*Kane's POV*

Sawyer slept the entire ride home. When we got back to the house, I stuck my key in the door, unlocking it and letting her go in first. She gave me a flat 'thanks' and took her suitcase into the laundry room. I brought mine inside and began unpacking it. I put my stuff back up in our room before bringing my dirty laundry downstairs from the hamper.

I walked into the laundry room to find Sawyer sitting on the floor, beside her half unpacked suitcase. Her face was puffy and red as hot tears rolled down her cheeks as she rubbed her hand. Caught off-guard, I reached down, helping her stand up, holding her hands in mine.

"What's wrong?" I asked looking at her

"Nothing." she swallowed back "I pinched my fingers in the stupid washing machine door."

She tried pulling her hand away from me as she wiped furiously at her face. I grabbed her hand, turning it palm up in mine. She he light red marks where the door had gotten her fingers. I lifted them to my lips, pressing a light kiss to each of them. She gave a small smile before turning back, starting the washer.

"I brought the laundry down from our room too." I said

"Ok. Did you unpack?" Sawyer asked, sorting the clothes

"yeah, it's all there." I said, "I think Imma head into the studio an' work on some music."

"Ok." she said shortly

"Ok." I said back

I grabbed the keys to my truck, heading into the studio.

"So have you talked to him about any of this?" Emmeryse asked over the phone.

"No. When I tried, he kept tellin' me we'd talk inside. Then he said we'd talk later. An' now he's headed into the studio to work on his music." I huffed, falling back onto the couch.

"Geez." was all she replied

"An' I was so frustrated thinkin' about the other day that I pinched my fingers in the door to the washer." I said, "He came in when I was cryin'."

"Why didn't you try talking to him then?!" Emmeryse grew loud

"Because I was too frustrated an' upset!" I defended, "An' he did a cute thing. He kissed my fingertips after checking them over." I blushed as I went into the kitchen, looking for a snack.

"That's sweet but fingertip kisses don't make up for last night!" Emmeryse said

"I know." I rolled my eyes, taking a bite of a chocolate bar.

"You know you still need to talk to him." Emmeryse said

"I know. An' I will." I said as the washer went off. "I gotta go. I've got more laundry to do."

"Ok. Take it easy." Emmeryse said

I hung up, leaving my phone and chocolate on the kitchen counter as I went to put the laundry into the dryer. I started another load, standing and causing my vision to blur momentarily as my head continued to pound. I went back to my chocolate, hoping that my headache would pass as soon as my frustration ended. Kane would be home that night and we could talk then.

*Kane's POV*

I groaned as I shifted, feeling an uncomfortable stiffness in my back. I opened my eyes to find myself staring at the ceiling of the studio. Sitting up, I stretched and yawned. I placed my half scribbled on sheet music onto the table. Standing, I packed up the guitar I had been using and put it back on the other side of the room. I rubbed my hand over my face as I grabbed my phone, clicking it on.
