*Kane's POV*
"Ladies and gentlemen. We have experienced a change in plans for this evening." Granger had gotten ahold of the microphone.
The manager fretted over what we were doing. One of my groomsmen stacked up all the dishes and place settings, handing them off to the manager. We moved the candles because we didn't need a fire. The room hushed as everyone watched. Alex and I stepped up on the stage, lifting the wedding table. I handed my side of the table down to Sawyer's father as Alex handed his off to another groomsman.
Granger and the MC got a speaker lifted and placed onto the stage as my two band members came back, wheeling in a drum set. After several moments of clinking as the drum set was put together on stage and the plates were reset, we moved the chairs down, receiving an uproar of clapping and cheers from our guests. We took our seats as the groomsmen slipped their suit jackets back on. I took Sawyer's hand in mine and kissed it as she smiled, shaking her head at me.
"Well, I do believe that we've got a wedding to celebrate. An' I don't know a better way than with some live music?" Granger still had the microphone, stealing the MC's job
"And at this time, we will also be serving dinner." the MC stepped in.
Granger handed back the microphone, going back to his wife. The waiting staff came around with plates of food, setting them in front of us before the rest of the guests. We had grilled or barbecued chicken, a vegetable stir fry, and potatoes.
After dinner came the best man and maid of honor speeches. After speeches, the MC announced the first dance of the night. As I pushed my chair back, Russell came up to the stage. I stood, taking Sawyer's hand, leading her onto the floor as Russell and my band settled in. He played with the strings of the guitar before speaking into the microphone.
"You know, I don't think you guys could've picked a better song. I might just be saying that because it's mine but hey. If it had been one of Kane's songs, you would've been stuck dancing with one of us probably." Russell Dickerson joked
Our guests chuckled as he started into the song 'Yours'. I smiled, turning to Sawyer. I pulled her close, wrapping my arms around her waist as the wrapped her's around my neck, pressing her head against my chest. I placed a kiss on her forehead before resting my chin against the side of her face as we swayed back and forth together.
"That was some quick thinking." Sawyer whispered
"You think I'd go without a dance with my beautiful wife?" I teased
Sawyer nuzzled her face against my chest, "I like when you call me that."
"What? My wife?" I smiled as she leaned back to look at me
"Yeah." Sawyer sighed, "Just don't let me slip or fall, I'm in heels." Sawyer countered
"Don't worry. You're not goin' anywhere. An' your dad's got your boots for when you wanna change."
"What do you think of bein' called my husband?" Sawyer teased
"I love it." I said, leaning in to kiss her before spinning her around the dance floor.
*Sawyer's POV*
After our first dance as a couple came the father daughter dance and the mother son dance. Once those were done, I was dying for a large piece of the cake that had been off to the side for us to cut. Kane put the cake cutter in my hand and placed his over mine. We cut it and pulled the piece out. I took a fork and went to feed Kane some, but changed my mind last minute, stealing the bite for myself.
"At least you didn't shove it in my face." Kane laughed and turned
"Oh. You mean this." Alex said while shoving a slice of the cake we had for the guests into Kane's face.
I stood there in shock, attempting to hide my smile and stifle my laugh, as everyone around us was laughing. He licked his lips, looking at Alex. A glob of frosting dripped from his nose onto the floor. In one swift movement, Kane flipped the cake on the serving utensil into Alex's face, not quite covering his face but still getting frosting on his face and hair. After retrieving towels from the staff, they went to wash up and cake was served to our guests. Once cleaned up, Kane brought over three plates of cake.
"What do you need so much cake for?" I asked through a full mouth
"Couldn't decide what flavor I wanted, so why mot try them all? You picked three flavors." he stuck a bite of raspberry cake in his mouth.
"No. That was Emmeryse because she couldn't make up her mind." I smiled
"Hi. You're welcome!" Emmeryse piped in after waving over a staff and ordering the same thing.
"Then you'll be sharing." I said, stealing a bite of the chocolate cake.
Kane fed me bites of different cakes between his bites of cake so I wouldn't have to steal any. After cake, it was time for the bouquet toss and the garter ceremony. I threw the miniature one that we had placed on the table. Kane spun me around until I was sure that I couldn't see straight. I threw it over my shoulder but was too dizzy to notice who caught it.
Bringing a chair out, I sat down, helping with feeling dizzy. We waited a few moments before Kane got down on the floor. Before Kane could do anything, the back door flew open and in walked Granger Smith dressed as his other persona, Earl Dibbles Jr., and my father dressed in overalls and his boots and hat. Both carrying pop-guns and yelling who knows what as they came to stand on either side of me. Our guests were laughing.
"Alright. Now I hear you got a garter to fish out! Well we got some rules!" Granger started
"Uh-huh!" My dad said, "No wandering! No shootin' anyone's eye out! An' there was something else. Help me out here, Earl."
"An No cheatin' on them boys's part!" Granger pointed at the crowd of single men lined up when his cork fell out of his pop gun.
The crowd of guests lost it again as laughter roared through the reception. With the joking aside, Kane carefully removed the garter from my thigh. He stood and shot it back over his shoulder. The night carried on with more dancing and music from Kane's friends. Kane got up and performed one of his songs. Everyone was enjoying themselves and I felt myself growing tired.
"Wanna call it a night?" Kane asked over my shoulder as my head rested in my hand, barely keeping my eyes open.
"mmm-hmm" was all I could answer.
Kane laughed as he let the MC know that it was time for the final wedding send off. The groomsmen and bridesmaids handed out sparklers to everyone and lined them up outside along the foot path. As Kane and I walked down to where his truck was waiting, we walked through the glow of the sparklers and saw the smiling faces of our guests. We gave them one last kiss and they cheered loudly. Kane helped me up into his truck and ran around, climbing in himself. We pulled away from the venue, and I leaned my head back against the seat.
"What do you say we head to the hotel an' get some sleep for tonight?" Kane said but I was already out.
