Not Your Typical Wild West Town
A need to travel
to see what's really out there
to escape from the borders
of Newfoundland
Driving day and night
in a packed wagon
Living off of many coffees
a day just to keep me awake
A country road
just off the dirt highway
piqued my curiosity
'What's down there?
Just road? A town perhaps?'
The sound of the hooves
on the dirt road
was satisfying
and calming
keeping me awake
rather than falling asleep
at the reins
A sign
welcoming me
to Busted Gulch
'Guess there was a town
down here after all'
A Wild West kind of
town
Far from what
I expected.
Horses, saloon,
sheriffs office
typical Wild West
town
I park my wagon
just outside
of the town
and head for
the saloon
desperately
needing a drink
Upon walking in,
I could tell
this was definitely
not a typical
Wild West town.
