Petra Predicament

Petra wandered the deck

Thinking what the heck

She knew she just couldn't leave

How to do this, how to achieve...

Shadow still got nowhere

Petra breathed in some fresh air

Missy's energy was needed

for Denver's care

She wanted someone to pay

For what happened that day

She knew she wouldn't get far

With the way they all are

Her brothers would be on her case

Still, she felt eager to leave this place

Conan was supposed to be on the trail

Brody's been by to question every guy

And every gal.

Not that he'd got anywhere here

Whoever did this best disappear

Or she knew their days were numbered

The moment the family

was no long encumbered

The more time that went by

The more she feared he might die

Talulah hasn't left her room

She still wondered but knows her father

Would not wish her to presume.

Yet Talulah was the one

That who last owned a buffalo gun

She claimed in the river it was thrown

Petra let out a frustrated groan.

A gentle hand touched her shoulder

Causing her thoughts to smolder

He turned her around in his arms

Wanting to keep her safe from harm

"Buck, I don't want him to die

I just found my true family... why?

Why does this have to be

He has too many enemies."

"Shhh," Buck did soothe

He knew she spoke the truth

Buck didn't envy the Sheriff

He held her close

the one he cherished.

"Buck, can you do something for me?"

"Anything whatever it be."

"I need to find who did this to him."

Buck wasn't sure he could,

his look was grim.

"I'll do what I can."

"Stick close to Conan."

"You think he has a lead?"

"I think if he does

whoever it is

He'll make him bleed.

I want to go

but I must stick close

If I try to leave, they'd know."

"You have my word."

Her vision blurred.

Now that he concurred.

Though she'd not shed a tear.

"I'm glad you're here."

"I promised I would not leave

Denver will pull through

You must believe."

"Just knowing you're out there

where I want to be

Will be a great comfort

To me."

Buck held her close

He kissed her lips.

He hoped up his sleeve

He had a few more tricks.
