A Sad Welcome Home – Myna
Our return trip,
Was of the quiet sort;
There was worry on our hearts,
And no Ruechari escort.
There had been no word,
From Billy or Rue;
To get back home,
Was all we could do.
Our beautiful Busted Gulch,
Was haloed by sunset;
As we pulled into town,
There stood Lorne, waiting to be met.
His face was grim,
That was clear to see.
"Welcome back ladies...
I know you're tired, but please come with me."
"Lorne, what's wrong?"
He tried to smile and kissed my face.
"Come with me, dear,
There is something you all need to hear."
We all make our way,
Into the café...
"Have a seat ladies, please listen up,
I don't want you to hear this through gossip.
CG, Myna...3Gun is going to be okay,
but he's been shot,
He's still at the Doc's sleeping,
recovering in his cot.
Rue has returned, with Billy and Lou.
Lou is dead...Billy has been shot too.
There is more, but I'll leave it at that..."
We all sat in silence
Our tongues caught by the cat.
The silence was broken
By Carolina Grace...
"I'm gonna kill him!!"
But there was concern on her face.
Our hearts were broken,
We lost a dear friend....
Our shopping trip,
Had come to a sad end...
