Family Fortunes
Family
"From this moment on we are and will remain a united family, and family always come first; these are the first and most important words I will ever say to you, as a family. Sadly, it's taken a shooting, for me to bring you all together for our first family meeting, but it is what it is and we have to be thankful that we have the opportunity.
All the of people I love most in the world are gathered in this room and I'm proud of you all, during this crisis, everyone has pulled together and shown where their priorities lay.
May this be a testament to our family's heritage, for even though we have been together for such a short time we have already shown that we would risk our lives for each other, and I must confess that this was beyond my wildest dreams.
I must also confess that to get this family where it is today, my consideration for others has not always been as good as it should have been and therefore, I may not be the best role model to follow.
Loving your neighbour is not always easy, especially when those that you try to help, would prefer to bite off your fingers.
You no doubt think that I refer to Talulah and the girls, and whilst this is true, let me assure you, they are not alone, for as you know not even the good work we have recently done in the community has been shamed by a small majority, but I will try not to judge as we are new and there is an old saying that might explain their reluctance 'beware strangers bearing gifts'.
Fortunes
For the most part, I believed the responsibility for this rested with me, as my arrival in the town has been somewhat acrimonious, but now I see that irrespective of my presence, that barely a day goes by without some unpleasant occurrence.
Our experiences have not always been for the good, but we recognize that the good in BG outweighs the bad, so your mother and I have chosen to make this our home, therefore whether we like it or not we have got to get along with its people and think of them as extended family.
Roaming the country in search of our family has come to an end, we have been way more fortunate than expected, discovering that we have two beautiful and intelligent daughters, not one.
The two handsome boys who followed us here, have grown into responsible men, forming an instant bond with their elder sisters, as if they had spent a lifetime together.
Until now we have all been used to dealing with things in our way, but from now on, things must change, if we are going to fit in, that also includes you Petra, for I fear they will naturally assume you have changed, unfortunately wanting to see only the bad no the good.
Now I have said my piece, I plan to put some proposals to you, some that have been a long time coming for the boys and some for the girls that may well be more of a surprise.
Everyone can relax, that brings an end to my opening speech, so let the meeting begin.
So, the first thing on the agenda is the replacement of 'Talulah Grey'."
