27 weeks long..

"How long are you going to keep staring at that offer?" Jason's assistant, Alicia asked him shortly after entering his office. He sent her a side eye and went back to the contract. Jason was comfortable with the relationship he had to her. She was just enough to push him without exceeding his limits. That was the working relationship and only relationship. He rarely associated with her out of work and he also barely had the time. His priority out of work has mostly been Laurel and the baby, and only them.

"Until I see what it is I am looking for." He answered her.

"Nathan signed it. You said it's great." She added.

"I'm not interested in great. What is it?" He remembered to ask Alicia what brought her to his office in the first place.

"Well, today is Friday and Nathan needs an answer." She reminded him, still talking about the contract in his hand.

"Set up a meeting. Earliest to his convenience." Jason instructed, he shared a brief look with Alicia who silently excused herself from the room. Once he was alone he pulled out his phone and proceeded to send a text.

To Laurel:

Hey

Jason slowly swung in his chair staring at the three dancing dots on his phone screen as Laurel typed her reply.

From Laurel:

Hi, I can't really text rn. I'm driving. You good?

To Laurel:

Where are you going?

From Laurel:

Airpot. My sister decided to surprise me with a 'visit'. I'm picking her up.

To Laurel:

Are you good to drive? Why didn't you tell me? I would have sent someone drive you.

In his mind when he said someone he really meant himself.

From Laurel:

Did you not see the surprise part. I didn't know now stop trying to kill me. I can't text and drive.

Jason knew that text was supposed to be harsh but he found himself chuckling...

"Nathan can do lunch today." Alicia appeared in his office once again with an update.

"Have Mike meet me downstairs then. The quicker we do this, the better. I might be out the rest of the day as well." He paused as he pounded on. "There is somewhere I might have to be."

"Okay sir," She took the instructions and left

Once he was alone again, he thought of Laurel and her sister. Laurel has two sisters, one whom she is helping out with school he really didn't know much about the other one but he was wondering which sister decided to visit. According to how it sounded in the text, she wasn't happy about it which just made him wonder how she's doing. He just hoped she wouldn't stress out on this a lot because that is not good for her and definitely not good for the baby.

Unfortunately he couldn't call, he had bigger things to fry maybe he will pass by and see how things are after. He quickly collected his things and marched straight out of his office for his meeting.

Laurel nervously paced in the airport departure section waiting her Iris to show up. She should be happy to see her sister but in this scenario she wasn't because she is pregnant and Iris doesn't know it and partly its for her. She didn't have time to come up with a reasonable explanation or how she was supposed to say it. Iris just swung this on her that morning, asking her to pick her up from the airport.
