It was a quiet evening in Laurel's apartment. She had just put Elle to bed and was left with cleaning her kitchen counter. There was not much to do that night. Her mind was on which show she was going to watch that night before she went off to sleep.

Her phone rang and Jason's name flashed on the screen. His calls weren't regarded as something so hostile anymore. They were normal now. Okay this was a bit unusual, it was a FaceTime call. She answered anyway.

"Hey." She greeted, dragging on the y.

"Hey there, Laurel. How are you?" He greeted her so formally as usual. His voice was energetic and lively.

"I'm good. You?"

"I'm okay. I actually called wondering if I could talk to Elle for a while and see her." He said. His voice was kind of raised and that's because he was competing with the background noise wherever he was. It sounded like other people talking but at the same time it looked like he was indoors like a house setting.

"Oh gosh, you just missed her. She's sleeping."

"Already?"

"Yeah. Sorry."

"It's fine. It is coming to nine anyway." He added a small laugh.

"Yes it is." He called totally for their daughter and now she didn't know what to say. She walked away from the kitchen and got settled in the couch, crossing her legs.

"What are you doing, though? I already called so let me make it worth my while."

"I'm doing nothing really. I just put Elle down. So I guess I'm relaxing."

"Hard day at work?" He asked. On his side it looked like he was leaning against a table. She stared at his face for a while. She noticed that these days he let his facial hair grow and it sort of gave him a different look.

"Not really. Just usual. I'm just enjoying some me time." She moved her eyes back to his.

"You were supposed to tell me more about your work." He said.

"Was I?" She smirked. "I don't remember."

"Okay, let me rephrase that. I was hoping for some more information about your job." He pursed his lips together.

"Ask away."

"Alright, why party planning?"

"I don't know. Why CEO of a huge company?"

"Not anymore. I quit that a while back."

"Really!" Laurel widened her eyes at the phone screen.  It was the first time she was hearing of this. "Why?"

"I just realized I wasn't really passionate about it anymore. I mean I was amazing at it just not what I initially wanted to do." He answered so freely which just shocked her even more. In her mind she thought about all those time he was so obsessed with work. It was his life basically.

"What are you doing right now?"

"Nothing. Right now I am passionate about being a dad. I am putting all my time there." His voice grew soft.

"Oh!" He totally caught her off guard.

"So believe me when I say I have a lot of free time on my hands." He raised his eyebrows and let out a slight giggle.

"I can't imagine you just being there and doing nothing." She said honestly, she couldn't picture it.

"I know." He said. "Everybody is shocked. It started out as a brief break and then I just never went back."
