Your eyes blinked tiredly as you stared at the screen with confusion. The words remained on the screen, bright purple, standing out against a black background. With paranoia now fuelling your every movement, you glanced left and right in fear, until more words appeared on the monitor.
There is no point looking, Y/N. You won't see me...
You frowned, and with a sigh, decided it was time to snap out of it and make a response. With slightly quivering hands, you tapped on your keyboard, partly still wondering if you were still asleep on that bus, dreaming.
Who are you and what do you want with me?
Your response was blunt and straight to the point, frankly you were never one for theatricalities and just wanted to know what was going on. There was a slight delay, but a reply quickly appeared on your monitor.
Hm, straight to the point. Okay. I have an offer for you, Y/N.
You shook your head in disbelief, chuckling slightly at what was going on. A hacked computer, a mysterious summons, it was like something out of a holo-vid.
Yeah? The kind I can't refuse?
There was another delay, and as you waited you contemplated simply turning your computer off, maybe even throwing the monitor out of the window. Anything to get some sleep...
No...but the kind you'd be a fool to refuse. I represent a powerful group of people, Y/N.
This part you had already guessed. A military background, a congressional medal of honour offered for heroism during the Omnic Crisis, you'd figured it would only be a matter of time before some mercenary group or another made you an offer. And there was only one name that ran through your head: the hacking, the mystery. It all pointed towards one group in particular.
Sombra, I'm guessing. Not hard to figure out, although what makes you think I'm interested? I'm done with that sort of life, so whatever you're selling, I'm not buying. Clear?
In hindsight, it was perhaps a little stupid to speak like that to a powerful mercenary group who knew where you lived. But after everything that had happened tonight, you were beginning to lose your patience now.
Tomorrow, 10:00 AM, Miami Mocha coffee shop. You know the place. I'll be waiting...
After having completely ignored your words, the computer suddenly shut down again, Sombra's words disappearing as quickly as they had appeared. You glanced around again, sighing, and throwing your arms up in defeat.
What did it take to just get left alone these days? It hardly mattered, there was no way you were going to some coffee shop just because you were summoned by the world's most notorious hacker. No way in the slightest.
As you strolled down the Miami streets, the early morning sun shone directly into your eyes, causing you to scowl in annoyance. Despite previous objections, you found yourself walking straight towards the coffee shop, at 9:45 in the morning. That was hardly a coincidence. Your best intentions aside, you were curious, this Sombra had piqued your attention. Part of you was starting to wonder if anything last night had been real. When you had woken up, you turned on your computer to find that it had no memory of the cyber-conversation with the hacker.
Still, the worst-case scenario of going to Miami Mocha and checking the place out was that you'd get an unwanted coffee. It was hardly as if a retired soldier had much to do these days anyway. You turned a corner and saw the coffee shop sign hanging over the street just ahead, beckoning you inside.
