I AM NEVER GOING BACK TO THE NERD HERD EVER AGAIN!!!
Alright.
Let's back track.
Billy and I got lost on the way to the meeting but some nice junior dude on the football team showed us how to get there.
We were the last ones to show up which was awkward in itself.
We entered in the middle of some strange ice breaker game and suddenly everyone was gushing over me because they couldn't believe somebody 'from outside the country' showed up to one of their meetings. I'm not sure why that was such a shocker, there are a lot of "other" international students here.
I guess they were just excited because a lot of their nerdy "fandoms" are from British stuff like Harry Potter, Dr. Who (I think that's british?), and some other show I forgot the name of.
Anyway, we all had to go around and read a part from some script they made up about wizards and cats. Weird combo haha.
So it turns out they are kind of into voice acting...
Aight...
I was a bit concerned. Not to toot my own horn or anything, even though that's exactly what I'm about to do, but it's kind of tricky to try to sound bad at something when you are actually very good at it.The other people there were kind of scary, not going to lie. It was mostly guys, and a lot of them had long hair that they dyed strange colors. They all had a scent of marijuana which ranged from faint to very obvious.
That alone made me regret going to the meeting.
As I waited for my turn to read I tried to guess who wrote the script, who was high when they wrote it, and who was high at the moment.
According to my calculations, everyone there was high at least twice in the past three days.On the other hand, Billy looked like a kid on crack while he did his read through. He is the kind of person who is very shy but also loud and crazy at the same time if that makes any sense at all.
His technique was absolutely horrible but I kept that to myself of course because I didn't want to burst his good time.
More importantly than that, it would give away that I am a voice actor and it would just spiral from there. It was finally my turn.
And the unthinkable happened...
They had the audacity to ask if I could try out an American accent since it would "fit the role better". Their exact words.
I tried my best to put on a Brit putting on an American voice. I didn't stutter since it was a fake voice (which is why I don't stutter when I do voiceovers) but it still felt hella weird.
That's not the worst part though.
One of the girls told everyone that my voice sounded "oddly familiar" and she "knew me from somewhere but couldn't put her finger on it"
I blushed and told her I get that a lot, but quickly ran out of the meeting before they had the time to figure out that British Rony Pollack has the same voice as American actor
Rony Pollack.
Well, I didn't run out immediately since that would draw waaaay too much attention.
So I pretended I felt sick and ran back to the dorm.Which is exactly where I am right now.
So now I'm just sitting on my bed staring at the ceiling.
Not exactly how I expected to spend the first night of college.
It's only 11:00...
I know it's not that early, but when you're living on college time it is.
Even though it's the first night I know these things.🎶another one bites the dust! Another one bites another one bites, another one bites the dust!🎶
Yep, that's my ringtone...
Don't judge me.
Honestly though, if you made it this far without judging me I would doubt that a ringtone would cause any judgement.
