"Sorry..." I mumble under my breath as my klutzy self runs downstairs directly into a girl who is walking up the steps.

"That's alright!"
She smiles.
"Rony! It's Rony, isn't it?"

Oh for freak's sake!!

"Y-Yes.."

I'm so caught off guard that I literally start stuttering again in my British voice!
I guess that's what it is like when a fluent person stumbles over themselves when they are flustered.

That was never my case before since real stuttering doesn't work that way.

It's neurological and genetic.

I was in "kids-who-can't-speak-class" long enough to remember that! 😉
They literally drilled it into us every class in middle school so we wouldn't believe the lie that we were stupid or broken for not being able to speak.
They would constantly remind us "It's not your fault! It's not because of your personality or anything you did! It's NEUROLOGICAL and GENETIC!"
I kept a tally count on the inside cover of my speech notebook (yes, we had those..) of how many times they told us that.
I got bored of it after they told us this for the 71st time.

And by told us, I mean they told me.

I was the only stutterer left by the time middle school began hahaha!!!

Yep, lots of people grow out of it.
But ya boi is a lucky member of the
true "top 1%" (the people who stutter! Duh!).

I've said it before and I'll say it again (I'm real good at repeating things 😉)
I'm not fluent, so when I have the ability to talk I also highly lack the ability to know when to stop talking.

I make eye contact with the girl...
Oooh, it all happened so fast I didn't even register the British accent and the girl I met last night...

She smiles at me sweetly.

"Still Jasper..." she giggles.
"I was very disappointed that you didn't text me since I gave you my card."

I try not to laugh in response to that, so I start to say something in response.

"But I understand. By the looks of it, you haven't had the best start to your uni life." Jasper tells me as soon as I am about to talk.

Legit if I stuttered around this girl I would never get a word in 🤣

"Pardon?"

"Well... I hate to embarrass you, Dear...but your eyes are all red and puffy. Been crying?"

I freeze...

I have the worst luck!

I look around to see if there is anyone nearby from my floor.

"Uh..My R.A..."
