Well This is Awkward

Lisa checked her self in the mirror one last time before she bounced out the door, an ecstatic smile on her face. She almost seemed to float across the sidewalk as she made her way to the park for her first date with Jisoo. It had taken her three weeks to build up the courage to ask the older girl out, but it was worth it to get that bashful 'yes.'"

The two agreed to meet at the park and walk to the cafe down the street for lunch, then hit the arcade after. Reaching the park, Lisa scouted the place out to see if her lovely date had gotten there first. When she didn't find the older girl, she found a bench she could watch the road from.

Jisoo smiled as she touched up her hair. She had been crushing on Rosie's friend from school for a while when the taller girl asked her out. She was sure their date would be the start of a great relationship. Straightening her blouse, the Korean girl left the house and headed for the park.

When she got there, she couldn't find the younger girl anywhere. On the verge of giving up, she heard fairy-like giggling from the tree above her. Looking up, she found Lisa sitting on the branch, laughing at a squirrel running around beside her.

An easy smile over took Jisoo's face as she watched the girl swing her feet and try to pet the squirrel. "Hey! Lisa, down here!" Stopping short, Lisa looked at the girl on the ground smiling up at her. Grinning awkwardly, the tall girl slide off the branch, landing next to her date nervously.

"Jisoo! I didn't see you coming." Laughing nervously, Lisa tucked hair behind her ear, blushing when she met her date's eyes.

"It's fine. Wanna go?" Nodding, Lisa walked next to the older girl, an uncomfortably jubilant smile on her face. Walking slowly, the two went down the street, shy small talk being exchanged all the way.

Sitting at a table by the window, the couple ordered a small lunch while staring at each other in near silence. It was bad enough that the waiter tried to strike up a conversation for them.

"So, what's your favorite color," he asked Jisoo as he delivered their drinks. He winked as Lisa, trying to let her know he was helping until she messed it up.

"Purple," they both answered. Jisoo looked up at Lisa and the taller girl stared back, neither saying a word. Sighing, the waiter walked away, giving up hope for helping the pretty blonde girl.

"So, what's your favorite pokemon," Lisa asked, trying to change the subject, though she already knew the answer. She may or may not have been cyber stalking the older girl for weeks prior to this event.

"Pikachu."

"Do you have any pets?" Dalgom is so cute, Lisa thought. When she cyberstalked, she committed to it.

"Yeah! I have a dog named Dalgom. Do you have any pets?"

"I have three cats, Leo, Luca, and Lily. Lily's just a baby right now though."

"Awe. What kind of things do you like to do?"

"I really like photography and dancing. How about you?"

"I like reading manga and gaming." By the time the waiter brought their food out, the girls' conversation had gotten going, much to his relief. When the couple left, they were laughing like they had known each other for years. Strolling to the arcade, the two spoke about anything and everything they could think of.

The arcade trip was much better, up until an older woman picking up her children asked if they were dating. Neither really knew what to say so they stood there in tense silence, gawking at the woman. After a while, they played the more date type of games like ski ball, air hockey, and a few racing games, finally leaving after a final haul at the prize counter.

Lisa got a small Pikachu for Jisoo and the older got a pair of sparkly white cat ears. They left together, mostly in good spirits, still a little awkward.

"So," Lisa started as she walked Jisoo home. "What do you think about a second date? I swear it won't be as awkward as this one."

"No!"

"No," Lisa asked, her voice drowning in disappointment.

"No, I mean, this wasn't a bad date! I actually had a lot of fun."

"So, a second date?"

"I would love to go out with you again." Jisoo smiled brightly at Lisa as they got to her front door. "I'll see you on Monday. Text me when you get home, alright?'

"Of course. Goodnight."

"Goodnight." Before she went in, Jisoo pecked her date's cheek, running inside directly after. Beaming at the closed door, Lisa jumped around on the sidewalk.

"Yes, yes, yes!" She was on cloud nine when she skipped home, unaware that Jisoo had been watching her from her window.
