Happy Fourth of July to all of my American readers! It is the country's 244th birthday, marking our official break up from England. I know there have been a lot of issues lately, involving race, justice, police-community relations, and health, but today is a day to celebrate the success of this experiment. The experiment that allows us to protest freely, to say what we want, no matter if it is for or against the government. We are a country that is still working towards our founding principals, and that can be looked at as a bad thing, but it can also be seen as a nation that isn't giving up on what we all know is right. In 1865, we admitted that we were wrong. In 1964, we took another step closer to reaching, "All men are created equal."
Today, for all of us in the United States, celebrate the steps we've taken and look forward to the ones we will continue to take. I don't want to preach or push any rhetoric down your throats, but I wanted to share how I view this day marking the official birth of the greatest country in history.
Have a wonderful day, no matter where you are, and stay safe.
Happy Independence Day!
