Back to the Jewelers

Jisoo walked into the jewelry store, the ring box heavy in her pocket. She adjusted her red scarf better around her face and went to a clerk. "Hello," the clerk greeted Jisoo. "How did it go?" It was the same jeweler that helped her pick out the ring.

Jisoo smiled at her and nodded. Taking out the black velvet box, she slid it over to the clerk. The man opened the box and blinked at the ring in surprise.

"Did she say no? Did she not like the ring," the man asked. Jisoo shook her head and thought about how that day had gone. The clues and the joke box being thrown in the river.

"Not at all. She proposed first." The man smiled.

"I'm glad. The way you spoke about her, I think you two are going to be together for a very long time." Jisoo smiled at him and nodded.

"But since I couldn't get her the engagement ring, I want to get her something else."

He smiled at her like they were in on the same secret. Leaning his elbows on the glass case, he moved closer to Jisoo over the counter. "What are we thinking?" Jisoo liked him. He always acted like they were partners in crime. Considering he worked as a jeweler, he would be her first pick to commit an actual crime with.

"Well, she's Thai and I wanted to give her a taste of home." He nodded, brow furrowing in thought. He tapped a beat out on the glass counter before finding some paper and a pencil. Making quick, light lines, he sketched a flag of Thailand on a simple chain.

"I'm thinking the red can be garnets since red diamonds are unfortunately incredibly rare. The white lines can be howlite or opal, or even clear diamond if you'd like, and the blue could be lapis lazuli. I can attempt to fimd enough blue diamonds but it would be tricky. We can find different gems of course, but those are the best matching in shade that comes to mind at the moment."

Jisoo looked at his design. "What's the chain going to be made of?"

"I was thinking of a thin gold chain. It won't draw attention away from the flag but will complement her skin tone."

"How do you know her skin tone?"

"Come one, two members of Blackpink aren't going to walk in here and not catch attention. I'll make sure this is the best necklace to ever come out of this shop." He smiled brightly at Jisoo before taking the drawing and putting in a black case.

"Lisa came in here?"

"Yeah, I helped her pick out the engagement ring. I was wondering who was going to do it first."

Jisoo rolled her eyes at the man before looking at her couples watch. "I'll check back tomorrow to finalize some details."

"Of course, and congratulations, Ms. Kim." Jisoo smiled at him and waved as she left the store.
