{Playing: Last Kiss- Pearl Jam}
"Where are we going," Lisa asked from the passenger seat. Rain fell in heavy sheets on the road as Jisoo drove slowly in the onslaught.
"You'll see," the driver answered playfully. The heater was warming the car against the chill from the monsoon falling from the slate grey sky, the bright green numbers on the dash reading three p.m. Taking her eyes off the road for a second to glance at her girlfriend, she entwined her fingers with the Thai's.
Shifting her brown gaze to the road, Jisoo gasped loudly. Ahead, there was a car sitting in the road, almost invisible through the rain, headlights shining dimly as the driver ran back into their car. Unable to stop in time, Jisoo jerked the wheel to the left, the tires of her dad's car screeching as Lisa screamed from beside her.
The last thing she heard was the sound of glass breaking as the car rolled into the treeline and Lisa's scared cry.
Sitting up abruptly, Jisoo breathed heavily, her stomach clenching from the disturbingly realistic nightmare. Placing a hand on her chest, the woman slowly set her feet on the floor, the cool air in the room feeling nice on her hot skin. Grabbing her water off the nightstand, she took deep gulps of water, unable to shake the dream from her mind.
Looking to her window, she saw through the slit in the curtains that it was raining gloomily outside. Biting her lip, she thought over what happened in her nightmare. It was raining heavily while she was driving her dad's car on a surprise date with Lisa. To avoid hitting a car stuck in the road, she swerved and the car rolled into some trees.
Jisoo was taking Lisa on a surprise date to a dance museum a couple of towns over later that afternoon. She had already asked to borrow her dad's car since her wheels were nearly bald and she was waiting to have them changed until the sale at the end of the month. And it was raining hard outside like her dream...looking at her alarm clock, she saw it was three a.m.
In her dream it was three p.m. Running a hand through her sweaty hair, Jisoo flopped back on her mattress, doing her best to fall asleep before her date. She finally gave up at six, rolling out of bed to take a shower and get ready for the day. Creeping to the kitchen, she made herself some waffles and texted Lisa about coming to get her later.
When the time came for her to pick up Lisa, the Korean woman's stomach clenched anxiously. Opening the front door and saying goodbye to her parents, a gust of wind slammed the door shut, nearly crushing her hand. Pushing the door open, the woman had to put all of her weight behind it to get out of the house. It was almost like the wind was telling her to stay inside.
Shrugging it off, Jisoo got in the car and carefully drove to Lisa's. The latter opened the door as soon as she saw the headlights through the front window, running to the passenger seat under her umbrella. "Hey," she greeted as she closed her polka dot parasol, shaking the water off before closing the door.
"Hi. Ready," Jisoo asked excitedly. Nodding, Lisa smiled at her girlfriend. "Let's go." Starting down the road, Jisoo watched the water pour through the windshield as Lisa flipped through the radio stations. Stopping on the song Last Kiss by Pearl Jam, the tall girl leaned back in her seat, a slight smile on her face.
Jisoo hummed along as she turned the heat on after seeing Lisa shiver in her seat. The rain came down even heavier as they drove along, the wind slapping at the car like a wrecking ball, the pain in Jisoo's stomach getting worse the farther they got down the road.
"Where are we going," Lisa asked, warming her hands at the vents, her brown gaze bright and curious. Jisoo frowned for a second, her eyebrows dropping at the question. Seeing the concerned expression on her girlfriend's face, Jisoo quickly smiled, though it didn't quite reach her eyes.
